šŸˆ Florida Field. It's one road trip that I would rather pass on.

I never really had experienced Florida fans before October, 2001, so I had no opinion of them as a whole. I had seen some of their posters on their own message forums and they reminded me a lot of LSU fans with their vitriol but that doesn't always translate to the way other teams' "game fans" carry themselves in person. It is absolutely an accurate representation of Florida's fan base however.

My first experience was at a "Cocktail Party" in Jacksonville but I attributed the crude behavior of the Florida faithful to partying it up in Jacksonville (it is a party!) or the fact that Georgia is a hated rival and has its own share of problematic fans. No big deal. In October of 2005, it was a bigger deal. A highly ranked Florida Gator team came to Tuscaloosa in what was Urban Meyer's first SEC test. They had handled Kentucky quite handily the week before. Gameday was there and the atmosphere was indeed charged, quite possibly the loudest Alabama game I have ever attended. The Gators were very well represented and their fans wanted you to know they made it to the show. There was screaming and cursing going on that I have never seen by any fan base before a game on BAMA's campus. When you contrast and compare Arkansas' fan base this past with Florida's from 2005, it's palpable.

During the game, I was able to sit far enough away from the Jort Nation that they didn't bother me until Tyrone Prothro broke his leg in one of the worst injuries to a college player I had ever witnessed. While the Alabama fans held their collective breath, the southeast corner of the stadium was roaring. Once the roar died down, you could hear the shouts of hatred toward Prothro. As he was being carried off the field on a stretcher, I saw many of their fans giving him the middle finger. They are without a doubt the most classless lot of fans I have ever witnessed.

They say the Swamp is a great venue, one of the best in college football. If the 10,000 fans that made the trip to Tuscaloosa is magnified by 9x at Florida Field, I think I'll just sit back and watch our guys thrash the Lizards on national TV. At least I won't be dumbed down just by being in the presence of the Mullet Nation.

I concur Greg. I got an email about the opportunity to purchase tickets to the Florida game this year. My husband actually encouraged me to go. I said no thanks. I've been there once and that will be enough for me.

I'll never forget getting pushed down into my seat by a Gator fan (a man, mind you) after Alabama scored a TD on them in SECCG '94. I was cheering, nothing obnoxious, just cheering and jumping up and down. Guy in front of me pushed me back into my seat. I was in a mostly Gator section and not ONE Gator witness to that said a word. Not one! The next TD Florida scored guy got right in my face taunting me. I was with a friend, and we left our seats right then and there not to return. Found standing room only areas at the Dome and finished the game there. Just pitiful I tell you, pitiful.

Having been to to most of the SEC's stadiums, including Florida, I can tell you that in my experience they are without competition as being the most classless fan base -- no one comes close.

The sad thing is that they believe that their behavior is both a point of pride and that it impacts the success of their team.

I was at the first SECCG back in the 92 championship season. We were sitting in the end zone where Langham returned the winning interception. The Flordia fans were mostly on that side of the field, and I remember them throwing trash and everything onto the field even before the game started. I was a senior in highschool and this was my first real college football game (not counting Jax St), and I thought what a bunch of idiots they all were. I was so happy when we won that game, it's something I'll never forget - along with their attrocious behavior.

I'm ready for their flash in the pan to go away. They never won an SEC title until Spurrier coached them. Well they had one, but had to vacate it due to Pell cheating.

They got lucky with gimmick coaches like Spurrier, Myer, and a player of the decade in Tebow. We saw last year how great of a coach Myer was without a Tebow. Maybe FSU/ Miami can start pulling more of that talent and send the Gators back to Vandy/Kentucky land.

So what you guys are saying me being there will not be a fun experience.? Wish you guys would of mentioned some of this before my wife talked me into going. She is a Gator fan..Yes it is going to be a long ride back for her.Roll Tide

In 2008 SECCG when they won, I only saw one outrageous fan, in 2009 I also only saw about 1 or 2. It just all depends on where you sit, I was in the majorly bama sections for both championships.

"NEVER AGAIN"

It was brutal where I was sitting..they were even talking s@&* to my wife and she WAS a gator fan, not sure who done it but someone somehow got our camera, The game was exciting, One quote stands out in my head the most " Hope you guys die in a car wreck " I mean come on wishing death on someone. Needless to say most of them had left with like 9 minutes left in the game.... Now my wife says she will be pulling for Bama

Sorry man. At least you kind of had an idea what they were like before you got there.
