Within the last week you said the defense was subpar. You didn't say the run defense had issues. It was the defense as a whole. That's is not the case.
IF you would have said I don't like the yards the defense is giving up in the rushing game this conversation would be completely different. It would be centered more on why (and I do believe there's a reason being overlooked.)
While efficiency numbers are statistics, it's a little vague just to call it "happy with stats." The rushing yards in the last quarter versus UT? Statistically, who could be happy? When you factor in things like game control, the point differential, and those yards coming in garbage time? I'm not unhappy. I'm disappointed in some fans knowing the game evolved but their expectations remain in 2011. As many times as it's been said, "it's a different building, it's a different staff, it's a different approach..." that's still being, essentially, ignored.
Kevin mention this casually the other day. I thought it was a great point that I should have emphasized. I thought about diving into these numbers; didn't have the time that day.
So, in a nutshell on just one point. Are we seeing teams move the ball, late, in the fourth quarter? Yes. Are they scoring? No. Are they getting those yards between the 20's? Yes. Does the defense stand up when they get in scoring position? Yes.
The point is ... while all of this is going on, and Bama is sitting on a lead, what is happening with the clock?
