šŸˆ šŸ”„ Hot Seat 2025 / Coaching Carousel:

My best guess on Arkansas.... they will look at a handful of guys who have been there and understand some of the challenges. The NIL support is actually pretty good as long as they are winning, but it's still a bottom tier SEC job. Fist off, if Petrino takes over and goes on a run to end this season, he will absolutely be a strong candidate. A lot of the big money guys really like him. Surprisingly, a lot of that group still are enamored with Gus too.... and while I'd imagine the bloom had fallen off that elusive rose the last few years, his apparent resurgence at FSU (mainly his performance vs. Alabama, will have them talking). Beyond that, a couple of guys with Arkansas ties are Rhett Lashlee and C.J. Kinne, 2 guys that I think would take the job. Last go around, they offered it to 6-8 people before they settled on Pittman... it isn't a job most of the big hitters are not going to want... they'll reach out to the Sumrall's of the world, but most of those guys will wait for better opportunities.

I don't know if Gus wants back in SEC. I wonder if Gus really want to get involved with NIL. I thought that was the reason why he left UCF?

Yeah, he was looking for a way out of UCF and was about to just retire. Just my guess, but I think Arkansas is the only HC job he'd take a serious look at... for him, it was the girl that got away. And for reasons I don't understand, some of those money guys are still enamored with him. If I had to make a prediction, I'd say the time has probably passed on him/them making it work, but I have little doubt his name will be pushed by some boosters.

That's quite concerning to hear that
If it was new, I'd agree. He's been beating this drum. It's almost been a year, to the date, where he was in front of the media talking about the NIL. Either Saturday or Sunday I made a comment in this thread about how he'd been beating that drum again this year (but that one was statements around women's sports.)

How badly can one man screw up a place? I thought Jeff Long did a pretty good job when he was there. Now that he's moved on the program has gone to hell. Cal, now Petrino ... reminds me of another SEC school that didn't mind wading in murky waters with their football and basketball coaching hires. It's funny how the schools are intertwined.

Sounds like petrino may be the only realistic choice, lol.

He's getting his tryout. I don't know if he'll turn them around this season or not... sure won't be easy, but I wouldn't be totally shocked of they picked off a few that they wouldn't have under Pittman... like A&M for example.
