🏈 🔥 Hot Seat 2025 / Coaching Carousel:

Did you mean "...resource , that's too...?" He certainly isn't the only resource: I doubt he could be the top resource.
I'm just saying he could do a lot for NIL.. So. could Johnson..Both of them should be leading the charge to get the Best athletes to that school... and if they are doing that, there's really not much reporting on it...(not that I want Arkansas to become a juggernaut or anything).... But of course Jerry Jones hasn't made the Cowboys any better in decades..

Why would you invest in a product that's not bringing results in a favorable way?

I asked the question earlier because it struck me as if you didn't know, or just weren't thinking about, Tyson money. Or Walmart money. Or JB Hunt.

Since this has turned more towards Jerry I know you have missed his involvement. Jones has given millions to Arkansas. Warren Stevens, one of the Tyson's, and Jones were the main money guys behind their basketball moves.

If you didn't know, Warren Stephens is the current Ambassador to the UK. He's got retail money for starters.

I don't know about Jimmy Johnson. He was at the reunion with Jones of their NC team so he's still involved in some manner of speaking.

I'm taking that as him scaring off his competition for that job. Who is going to want to go to a school where that is said publicly? "OK guys, I'll take it and do my best."

Whoever takes it will have a clear idea of what he’s gonna have to work with in terms of resources. Now, if they swing and miss at their first 5 or 6 candidates again? I could see how that would throw a wet blanket over the wallets. But if they pull someone that those guys are excited about… and Petrino will fit in that box if he starts winning some games, they money will come, IMO.

they money will come, IMO.
There's a $150 million dollar project they've got in limbo right now that's for Walton. It was going through the final board approval stages a little less than a year before they signed Cal. You know that was brought up to him when they were in the hiring process.

The timing with Pittman could have been better for the money folk.

I keep seeing/hearing rumors about Freeze that he could be stepping down soon due to his health. Just curious if anyone has heard the same? I'm gonna assume it holds no merit until proven otherwise.
You'll have to look through the archives to find the threads. It's a subject that's come up a few times. A simple recap is we all agreed there is a discernible difference in how he looks pre and post cancer treatments.

His health doesn't have anything to do with the shape that program is in today. It was in bad shape before he started dealing with his prostrate issues: before he took the job.

At face value it's tame. But when the check came you knew it was bad for Nix to leave.

IMO, why would Coach Meyer come back in the game? He does not need the money, the headache with NIL, dealing with boosters and the problems that college athletes cause. He is in a perfect situation now with FOX doing the exact same thing that CNS does with ESPN.
