🏈 Favorite Bama-Tennessee memories

my first bama game was the 2005 bama-tenn game, I fell in love with the place, it was an amazing game with an awesome finish, I still have my ticket! my second memory is the 2007 game, I sat in the new endzone with my uncle, we got burned by the sun, lol, we hade a really good time especially singing ramma jamma together, it was also great because of the beating we gave them that day, hopefully I can go this saturday

1965. Tied 7-7. I was at the game. I high lighted "came in" in your post because that was the whole problem. Coach Bryant was alternating QB's in that game, which always drove us fans crazy, but he was supposed to know best. Stabler always gets the blame on that play, but I blame the alternating. He was in on first down in that series. Sloan was sacked at the 18 on second down. Stabler ran 17 yards to the one on third down. Now when you are on the phone with the press box during second down and have no damn idea what is happening on the field, and you come in and run 17 yards to the one, I can see where you might think you just made a first down. Ironic about the fourth down throw away was that Ray Perkins was wide open and the ball sailed over his head. Would have been an easy TD pass. Didn't spike the ball. That would have been intentional grounding back then. Should be now. Never have figured out why they let them do that.

hmm, thanks for clearing that up. I dunno, I wasnt there. So, he threw it away for what reason? Trying to stop the clock? Or they actually ran a play.

ah man, so many. I grew up mainly in the 90's (Im only 22) and those years were pretty painful for the Bama-Tennessee games. I do remember us beating the hell out of Peyton Manning when he got thrown in that game as a Freshman. The '99 game stung bad cause it was in the middle of the Shaun Alexaner for Heisman stuff and he got hurt (still had 90 yards & a TD) and the team just played crappy, but played lights out the rest of the year. I wanted so bad for Tennessee to get into the SEC Title game that year because I had no doubt in my mind we woulda killed them the 2nd go around. I remember the '02 game very fondly that was after 7 LONG years kinda like us breaking the streak last year against the Barners. Had a pretty dang good defense that year too, the biggest play that sticks in my head was the Gerald Dixon TD on the pass where the QB threw behind the line. I remember the 5 OT game but that was is hard to go back and watch because we lost iti but still memorable. The '05 game is a very, very memorable game. The hit Roman Harper put on the FB sent through the endzone 'the hit' and then that pass from Brodie to DJ in a game that was kinda DJ's coming out party. And then "Money" hitting ANOTHER game winning FG. '07 was just a flat out stomping. I'll never forget that one for several reasons, my family scheduled our Family Reunion on this date. Now the gameday crew for years now around here has been me (possibly a friend or a girl), my cousins, my pops, my aunt, & my uncle all watching it together. My mom pretty much made us all go but at the building we were we found out pretty quick that there was a TV in a room in the back so we all got our plates and snuck back there so there was like 7 ppl cramped in this lil room watching a lil bit a** TV and then DJ made his first TD and we all went to hollaring. Of course the jig was up then and everybody knew what was going on, my mom just told us to go watch the game back at the house lol so we did. needless to say last years and this years wasnt on Bama-Tennessee gamedays lol last years was awesome too, Julio had a big day hopefully he can have another one. Last few years our Wideouts have destroyed Tennessee....

2005: DJ Hall - 10 catches, 139 yards
2006: DJ Hall - 7 catches, 102 yards
2007: DJ Hall - 13 catches, 185 yards, 2 TD
2008: Julio Jones - 6 catches, 103 yards

He threw it away to stop the clock. There were just a few seconds left in the game. As I recall, it was the last play of the game. Whether it was or not, for all intents and purposes it was the last play of the game. The reason the ball was so close to Perkins is because back then even if you threw the ball out of bounds there had to be an eligible receiver in the vicinity of the ball. Otherwise it was intentional grounding. The reason Perkins was wide open was because ut could not have been expecting anything but a running play from the one yard line. Bama should have kicked a FG from the 18 on third down. Stabler shoud never have been blamed for Bama not winning that game.
