🏈 Family travel for Playoffs

We talked about the griping about fanbases forking out money for two trips in 12 days for the CFP. We also talked about the hardship that would be placed on a players' family to make those same trips. We talked about the use or misuse of the fund set aside by the NCAA for players that experience some sort of hardship. Well, it looks like the NCAA is going to open up that can of worms!!

RT @DavidWoods007: NCAA announces it will pay for travel of athletes' families to College Football Playoff and men's/women's Final Fours.t would be placed on players' families. It looks like the NCAA is going to open up that can of worms!

Press release http://www.collegefootballplayoff.c...ance-for-student-athlete-parents-or-guardians:
The College Football Playoff (CFP) announced today that, subject to NCAA rules, it will defray the cost of expenses for student-athletes’ parents or guardians to travel to the inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship on January 12.
The reimbursement will cover expenses for hotel accommodations in North Texas and travel reimbursement and meal expenses for a maximum of two parents or legal guardians per athlete. The reimbursement will be capped at $1,250 per parent or guardian.
“We know how expensive travel can be, so we’re pleased to provide assistance for parents or guardians who want to see their sons play in the first College Football Playoff National Championship,” said Bill Hancock, executive director of the College Football Playoff. “It will make the game even more special for the student-athletes to know that their family members are receiving this benefit.”
The CFP moved quickly to provide this benefit as a pilot program just six days before the National Championship Game. The program will be evaluated going forward to make certain it provides the appropriate amount of permissible assistance

I can live with $1250 per family. I personally think that is fair. I was not in favor of 100% assistance and who should get it and who shouldn't, but this I can live with, because even if a player does stay at home to play, the NCAA schedules these games in remote locations causing the travel. Good move on the NCAA's behalf.

That just for the parents? What about the little brother or sister that can't be left along?

You and a kid can't survive off $1250 for a couple of days? Tickets are free, so all you need is hotel, food, and travel. If you're married, you got $2500 to survive off of. Sounds like more money than a lot of people make in a month, and that's for free.
