🏈 Fall Scrimmage #2: Reports/Observations

Eh, I'm not so sure he's less talented than GMAC.

He's certainly not noticeably better. I love GMAC and appreciate everything he did for us but he lost the USCe game his in '10 and should've lost it in '09 if HTWMI wasn't such a badass. We have to much talent on this team to put the offense in the hands of another game manager. I'm ready for a game changer at qb. I hate Corn got in the doghouse he's got a lot of arm talent. I'm gonna just keep using this bucket to keep Team Coker afloat as long as possible. The captain always goes down with his ship!

The only game changer we have is BB, IMO. And trust me, I understand your frustration.

100% Agreed. That's why I was so happy that Blake won job last year.

Not that I'd be upset if a game manager helped the Tide win it all this year, ijs.

You guys make some valid points but let us not forget the offense will be alittle different this year and that dual threat may not be needed as much. Although BB6 has the tools he still needs a little time.

I would like to think Kiffin went to the quick passing game so much was due to the OL play... And had the OL been more dominant, he would have ran it. more.

From yours and other reports, they should be better run blocking this year. Makes you wonder just how committed CLK will be to the run game.

Also, I thought he did a really poor job of using Blake as a runner last year. Obviously there is a threat of injury, but he rarely if ever had a designed run. Would have given defenses a lot more to worry about had we ran like 3-4 a game.

Let me clarify, I'm ready for a qb with a game changing arm.

You mean game changing arms like Jeff George, Ryan Leaf, Jay Cutler, Max Wittek etc? You could sink the Queen Mary loading it with "game changing arm" guys without championships.

Dude, I'm afraid you bought the Coker hype from day one and just can't let go. Who would you rather have, Joe Montana or Jeff George leading your offense?

This dead horse needs another beating. Sims set records through the air last year. Threw a better deep ball than any other Saban QB. And please spare me the argument of it was because of Cooper. Julio was pretty damn good but was overthrown a lot. Watch some games as Coop was a frosh and we had trouble throwing it near him. Give credit where credit is due.

Blake Sims threw a better deep ball than AJ McCarron and obviously better than GMac.

I would take any of those guys in college. What's your point?

Hey I am thankful for everything that Blake did for us but to say he had the best arm talent of any Saban QB is laughable. There is a reason JPW, GMAC, and AJ all made NFL rosters and Blake is in the CFL. Don't kid yourself.

Jeff George: 35 TDs to go with 35 INTs 116 QB rating
Jay Cutler: 59 TDs to go with 36 INTs 125 QB rating
Ryan Leaf: 59 Tds to go with 24 INTs 141 QB rating
Max Wittek: 3 TDs to go with 6 INTs 103 QB rating

I would rather have a QB less prone to try and force a big play and let JK Scott give the defense some room to work with than have a QB the defense will have to bail out from time to time. I think that may be his point. Those guys will either make or break you.

I would kill to have GMac back to lead the 2015 version of the Tide. Or Blake Sims.

I said deep ball. Not the best arm. Its not like those three QBs lit up the NFL either. The jury is still out on AJ but the others now have other careers. Jared Lorenzen even found himself in the league at one point.

Dude. AJ was always overthrowing receivers deep. No one was able to throw the deep ball to the receiver in stride except Blake.

Truth

I love what AJ did for Bama but he consistently overthrew receivers on deep routes.

Mentioned JPW...DJ Hall routinely had to wait on a JPW pass to come down. If JP threw it 40 yds it had a parabolic arc like a mortar round.
