Update :

Tide staff do not plan to redshirt Barnett. He has progressed to the point where they want to get him snaps to compete next year for starter. Morris experience with the offense was just alittle to much for him to overcome.

I can confirm that this was just reported on a popular premium website. No redshirt for Barnett.

Does this mean he will get snaps over Bateman?

Im being repetitive between threads, but I like the no RS call for BB.

If a player is too talented to stay for 5 years, a RS is wasteful. Find him some garbage time reps to use for development this year.

I don't think it means he gets reps over Bateman, but it means he gets reps this year that have a few extra benefits.

If he struggles, it isn't a bad thing. One, it keeps his ego in check as the QB3/4 with arguably the most talent on the team. It builds some valuable experience and the opportunity to play/compete in any capacity reduces the chance of him becoming disenfranchised.

I think it is entirely possible that BB6 becomes QB2 before too long. Apologize to keep repeating myself here. Just have no faith in JC. I even like CB better.

Based on anything other than hope so far?

Not suprised. This is how I envision going forward: Morris, Coker and Bateman. BB will get some garbage time here and there... So I can see BB jumping past Bateman at some point. Don't count Coker out this year... Everyone keep saying that they can see Morris being the starter for now and being replaced later in the year.. that is not how it works... BB will be fine. Coker will be fine. Morris will be fine. It's all about whos getting divided reps this week and My gut feeling says Morris and Coker. Bateman still have chance.

Hell yeah! Everyone knows he's our future at qb. Go ahead and get him some game experience. No reason to redshirt him!

I would think that BB not having a rs would suggest that Coker has won the job. Why would you not redshirt BB if he's going to be 4th string and competing with Morris or Bateman as a returning starter?

You mean to tell me Coker won a job based on his poor showing in the last two scrimmages... At one point he threw a ball at a receiver's ankle.... You mean to tell me he won the starting job based on that? Oh okay.

I don't think Coker won anything. I think AM is the guy. And I think there is a prevailing opinion on this site that agrees. :rtrsign: Ya gotta believe that the coaches know what they're doing.... Now let's move forward and roll with the TIDE!

I will say that I am surprised that BB will not red shirt. Probably the most interesting thing I've heard so far this year other than Minkah pushing into the regular rotation at DB

If Bama trots 3 QBs out for the Wisky game and plays all 3 the message board traffic will be as epic as anything since the Shula fired/Saban hired days
