Of note from early on ...

In nickel, Averett's been at RCB. Bozeman at RG. Base has Allen, Payne, Tomlinson. Drills had Bateman, Barnett, Hurts (Cornwall not doing footwork drills.)

So Fitz stays at Star... Nice

And I love Bozeman at guard. He could also be a perfect 6th man... Even started some games at Center with Blake Sims.

We've talked about this off and on and I'm bringing it up again. This DB rotation is going to be something to watch. I really like Fitz at STAR, but can't begin to tell you how much I'm intrigued by seeing Carter there with Fitz on the corner.

Started with Averett at RCB, then went to Sheffield, Hootie's seen some action at MONEY ...

It's shuffling a deck of face cards by what I'm understanding (can't say anyone should be surprised.) It looks like they're getting close to a solid rotation of five corners and four safeties.

You can add the tight end rotation to the intrigue list. I can't help but wonder how they can keep Greene off the field. Short yardage situations seem manageable with the use of Henges as a H-back/fullback.
Even started some games at Center with Blake Sims.
I'd thought the same thing. I'm not fretting over Pierschbacher at center (seems to be an emerging storyline since some comments the other day on SEC Now.) It can only help having his experience at guard with blocking calls/recognition.

— My opinion on the quarterbacks: Jalen Hurts had the best day. Blake Barnett had the second-best day. Cooper Bateman was third. Hurts is a legitimate contender to win the starting quarterback job.

— Blake Barnett with probably the best throw of the day. Rolling left, he threw a touchdown of around 40 yards in the corner of the the end zone to Trevon Diggs. Went right over the outstretched hand of Tony Brown. Perfectly placed ball.

— Freshman running back B.J. Emmons is a physical runner. Has been lowering his shoulder and initiating a lot of contact in light contact drills.

— A couple nice balls from Cooper Bateman — a nicely placed fade route to Gehrig Dieter and then a deep completion of around 30 yards to O.J. Howard on a corner route. Bateman then threw a long touchdown pass to a wide open Irvin Smith. It was a blown coverage.

— Keith Holcombe intercepts Jalen Hurts on a short pass over the middle.

— Deep touchdown pass down the middle from Jalen Hurts to Calvin Ridley. Beat freshman cornerback Jared Mayden.

— Cooper Bateman has struggled some today. Just threw a pass into double coverage that was almost intercepted.

— Two nice throws from Jalen Hurts in 11-on-11. On the first, safety Deionte Thompson had tight coverage, wide receiver T.J. Simmons over the middle, but Hurts fit the ball into a tight space. Hurts then had a nice pass of around 20 yards to Robert Foster along the sideline.

— The first-team kick returners are Calvin Ridley and ArDarius Stewart. The second-team kick returners are Xavian Marks and Damien Harris.

— Two nice catches just now in 7-on-7. Robert Foster had a contested catch deep down the sideline. Trevon Diggs then made a contested catch across the middle.

— The first-team secondary during a 7-on-7 passing drill is Marlon Humphrey and Anthony Averett at cornerback, Minkah Fitzpatrick at nickel back and Ronnie Harrison and Eddie Jackson at safety.

— The second-team defensive backs: Anthony Averett and Kendall Sheffield at cornerback and Deionte Thompson and Hootie Jones at safety.

— Blake Barnett and Jalen Hurts look the best of the quarterbacks thus far.

— Quarterback David Cornwell, who is dealing with a foot injury, is working off to the side as the other quarterbacks go through drills that require movement.

— Wide receiver Xavian Marks looked quick and elusive in one-on-one and one-on-two ball-carrier drills.

— Blake Barnett looked good and comfortable in an early 7-on-7. All of them were short-to-intermediate throws, but he was 5 of 5 or 6 of 6 during that session.

— A couple off-target throws from Cooper Bateman in 7-on-7. A deep comeback bounced at the feet of the intended receiver. A short throw over the middle was then low and off-target.

— Tony Brown is at free safety.

— Rashaan Evans is the inside linebacker next to Reuben Foster in nickel.

— The first-team offensive line early in practice is Cam Robinson at left tackle, Lester Cotton at left guard, Ross Pierschbacher at center, Bradley Bozeman at right guard and Jonah Williams at right tackle.

Notes on quarterbacks and more from Alabama's open practice

— Rashaan Evans is the inside linebacker next to Reuben Foster in nickel.

He was also playing inside in base. The only time it was mentioned he wasn't on the field was in the dime/rabbit package.

Based on yesterday, one could assume Evans move to the inside is permanent and we'll see him there the vast majority of the time.

Alabama’s players and coaches returned to the practice field following its Fan Day and open practice for the team’s fifth practice of fall camp. The Crimson Tide practiced in full pads for the first time on a cloudy, 84-degree afternoon.

Here are several tidbits from the Crimson Tide’s Monday practice session in Tuscaloosa:

- Redshirt sophomore quarterback David Cornwell (foot) was limited once again. Cornwell did not do much during the two media viewing periods Monday, outside of throwing to the tight ends. With Cornwell off to the side during some drills, the quarterback order was Cooper Bateman, Blake Barnett, Jalen Hurts and walk-on Montana Murphy (6-foot-3, 201 pounds).

- Freshman wide receiver Trevon Diggs worked exclusively with the safeties Monday, wearing a crimson No. 7 jersey. During yesterday’s open practice Diggs practiced with both the wide receivers and defensive backs.

- During individual drills, Reuben Foster and Shaun Hamilton led the inside linebacker group. Rashaan Evans and Keith Holcombe were behind them, followed by Joshua McMillon and Keaton Anderson. Evans worked alongside Foster during yesterday’s entire open practice, while Hamilton was with Holcombe with what appeared to be the second-team defense.

- For a fourth straight practice, the same five players made up what appears to be the first-team offensive line. From left to right: Cam Robinson, Lester Cotton, Ross Pierschbacher, Bradley Bozeman and Jonah Williams.

- Walk-on running back Derrick Gore was not on the practice field Monday. Yesterday, head coach Nick Saban said Gore sprained his knee in a previous practice and will probably be out for at least two weeks.

“We’ll probably replace him in the 105 because I don't think he’ll be able to compete until school starts,” Saban said.

- Four scouts from the New York Jets watched Monday’s full-pad practice from the sideline. They were joined by one NFL scout from the Atlanta Falcons and the Minnesota Vikings each.

Practice report: Tide dons full pads for first time

I'm just gonna be clear, I'm gumpin' hard over the potential this team has....seriously. Can't freaking wait for the season to start...I still need to buy tickets to the opener, hope I can find 3 tickets for a reasonable price.
