šŸˆ ESPN reports on Ohio State--a story that hasn't gone quietly in the good night.

Being under the influence gets you four games, but lies and deceit of an entire program and enabling gets you three. About par for the course these days. This is an instance I stand behind the players and the standard they are held to over the coaches.

Shock of all shocks, Urban Meyer has survived to coach another day. Of course he has. Ohio State’s board of trustees never was going to have the courage to fire him for keeping on his staff a longtime assistant coach who was arrested for beating his pregnant wife in 2009 and was visited by the police twice more in 2015 — both of which Meyer was aware of, the latter of which he belligerently lied about to millions of fans at Big Ten Media Days last month.

Football is way too important at Ohio State to get rid of a liar who fails to do everything in his power to stop another man from beating his wife, if that liar can win you another national championship. So the Ohio State president and the trustees suspended Meyer for the first three games of the season — Oregon State, Rutgers and TCU — but will have him back in plenty of time for the bulk of the Big Ten season.

Urban Meyer stays as Ohio State football coach, but he is diminished after investigation

My gut instinct says they'd have been better off with no suspension at all. I suspect the backlash wouldn't be as severe.

what's really sad is, when he returns to coach, if he keeps winning, the fans will forget all about anything else that happened or why he was suspended in the first place. hell, they'll forget about what about a piece of shit one of the assistants was and how he committed felonies.

all they care about are the Ws...no matter the way in which they get them.

The thing that got me most was the whole part where he and Voltolini discussed"whether the media could get access to Coach Meyer's phone and specifically discussed how to adjust the settings on Meyer's phone so that text messages older than one year would be deleted." Then investigators found that his phone only had messages up to a year old. Even worse was that this happened after the student paper at OSU requested the records and were ignored. That would seem to warrant more than 3 games and indicates he will do anything to cover his ass.

You could just see the body language last night with AD Smith and Coach Meyer that neither one of them agreed with the decision to suspended without pay. Meyer especially looked like he was going to blow a gasket. Almost every single OSU fan I have talked to during this whole ordeal do not think any punishment should happen to Meyer. Many do feel like Smith should fired.
