šŸˆ ESPN reports on Ohio State--a story that hasn't gone quietly in the good night.

Some reports coming out that Meyer's has been put on administrative leave while the university investigates.

Statement from The Ohio State University

The university is conducting an investigation into these allegations. During the inquiry, Urban Meyer will be on paid administrative leave. Ryan Day will serve as acting head football coach during the investigation. We are focused on supporting our players and on getting to the truth as expeditiously as possible.

Statement from Urban Meyer

Gene and I agree that being on leave during this inquiry will facilitate its completion. This allows the team to conduct training camp with minimal distraction. I eagerly look forward to the resolution of this matter.

The CU coach, Mike McIntyre, survived something very close to this in the last year or so. Hell, he even gave the dude a promotion for their bowl game. It's a shame this has to come to the forefront but it will be interesting to see if this comes back around at CU also. Because from what I've read they are VERY similar - Except I believe the CU accuser actually got in touch with McIntyre directly.

It's just the world we're living in, man. There is legit no other place he could have posted it that would have gotten more hits. We used to hold off on posting certain things online (advertisers like it when there is stuff in the paper that's not online) but it's gotten to the point where you HAVE to put everything online now.

I think the tweet was more of a reference to the fact that ESPN let McMurphy go and he likely had a ā€œnon competeā€ clause so he was left with no other choice than to use his Facebook page.

Within the last week there was a story about a MLB players timeline on Twitter. I didn't play close attention to the story. From what I recall hearing someone had dug years back into his timeline and found some "insensitive" tweets.

I believe it was McMurphy. When the story broke I know the thought crossed my mind "there's a reporter digging for dirt." If I'm remembering all of this correctly here's two stories within a week from the same guy that's ... well ... digging for stories.

*Their (Ohio State's) promotion of Ryan(?) to interim head coach is interesting considering there's two former head coaches on staff: Schinao and Wilson. (promoting Schiano would have been a troll's wet dream.)

We've talked about Saban's body language over the years in terms of when you can see him getting ticked off in press conferences, etc.

In poker, when someone is bluffing, you've heard the term "tell."

With Urban, how many times have you seen this? It's his "tell." Watch him in the video at the bottom. You've seen it before.

Title IX?

New paragraph 4.1 (e) of Meyer's extension reads:
Coach shall promptly report to Ohio State's Title IX Athletics any known violations of Ohio State's Sexual Misconduct Policy (including, but not limited to, sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, intimate violence and stalking) that involve any student, faculty or staff or that is in connection with a university sponsored activity or event. ... For purposes of this Section 4.1 (e), a "known violation" shall mean a violation or allegation of a violation of Title IX that Coach is aware of or has reasonable cause is taking place or may have taken place.

Another new paragraph makes clear that failure to follow this rule could cost Meyer his job.

Ohio State's Sexual Misconduct policy, under the auspices of Title IX, requires all university employees to report what they know. Under domestic abuse, Ohio State's threshold is not whether a person has been charged. It reads in part, "An individual need not be charged with or convicted of a criminal offense to be found responsible for domestic violence pursuant to this policy."

Understand that Shelley Meyer's works or worked as an RN and an instructor at Clinical Practice at the Ohio State University College of Nursing, so she's also bound by that Title IX policy if the dates align.

Is that clause in his new contract from 2018 retroactive to 2015?

@TUSKtimes, I'm having a hard time justifying how this falls under Title IX. Even if it is included in that phrase, and even though we're talking about a University employee, the foundation of Title IX is to ensure equal treatment for men and women on campuses. His wife, and their marriage, wouldn't be in a position that would allow the possibility of someone being discriminated against.

That policy applies to "Ohio State faculty, staff, students, student employees, graduate associates, appointees, volunteers, vendors, and visitors."

"Anyone who supervises faculty, staff, students, and volunteers; chairs/directors; and all faculty members have an additional obligation to report known or suspected incidents of sexual misconduct. Because of their positions of authority, these individuals have always had a heightened responsibility to report all other incidents of sexual misconduct."

The texts that were exchanged between Shelley Meyer's and Courtney Smith was specific and apparently contained graphic pictures of the abuse. So, it's clear that Urban Meyer's wife in 2015 was sent abuse pictures as well as blow by blow explanations. In reply, Shelley Meyers texted concern for Courtney and then clearly stated that she would let Urban know of this abuse.

Title IX could very well end up being the dead elephant on the back of the Meyer's family.
