I went into Egan's a half of a dozen times, or so. There was another dive just down the street called the Back Porch. It wasn't any bigger--probably a bit smaller inside--but it did have a nice patio area in the back. It was a lot like Egan's. As in, $3 pitchers of beer that tended to attract quite a few.
I use to bike down University in the morning hours before classes/work and I can't tell you how many times I stuck my head in the door at the Back Porch (6:30-7:00 AM) and there would still be 15-20 people in there from the night before.
Pretty cool place from 4 in the afternoon 'til 8-9'ish...the owner, Mississippi State fan of all things, allowed us to run a bar tab for the month. Didn't need to and to this day I'm not sure what benefit he saw from doing so. I suspect my tab went from my pocket to his and never made it to the books.
I want to say it was right next to 12.
