| FTBL Edge to the 'Barn and FSU?

With the Iron Bowl and UF/FSU one week before the SEC title game, how does that influence (if at all) the flow of those games.

We need to beat the Barn to keep the ultimate dream alive. We also need to beat them to end the streak and take claim over our rivals. However, with the SEC title game in the front windshield, do you think the Iron Bowl now takes on a new element, that could help Auburn? The typical, looking ahead???

On the other side of the coin, FSU has a chance to pull a stunner against an arch rival and keep them from playing for all the marbles. A UF "look ahead" towards 'Bama could see Bowden pull a giant upset as his career heads for the rocking chair.

I know "Saban will not allow them to look ahead"...but these are young kids we're talking about with a big dream that was "supposed" to be years away...yet it's in our hands for the taking.

Who would have ever dreamed, our biggest RIVAL...could be the ultimate TRAP GAME!?!?!!!!

Just something to ponder...

i know that it's a big rivalry game but i don't think auburn can match up to us this year. being from tennessee i was nervous before we played the vols(hate having to hear about them all year) and we pretty much dominated them. i think the auburn game will be similar

Which of Alabama's Seniors, who are in their last Iron Bowl and have never beaten Auburn, is going to let that happen?

What is Saban's past leads one to believe that on that week he will change his stripes and let that happen?

A player would have to be taking classes at UAH to be able to get through a day without having classmates focus him on Auburn.

I don't see that happening.

I don't think "looking ahead" is anything to worry about for this team. They seem to have an NFL-like approach to the schedule. One game and one opponent at a time.

I hope FSU trips up UF and Tebow sprains his toe, and percy Harvin gets turf toe! Perfect Bama cenario

"Let" doesn't have anything to do with it, brother. If that were the case, every team would be undefeated; and we know that can't happen. No team is going to "let" the other team win, yet teams fail on that promise in every game...every week.

I'm sure LSU and Les Miles weren't going to let 'Bama beat them...but it happened.

I said Saban will do all he can to keep them focused, but we've all seen trap games before. Cliches are cliches for a reason.

I'm not suggesting anything in respect to the remainder of the season, I'm just simply making a discussion. :)

The table is set for us to capture a dream, but the table is also set for Auburn and FSU to play the amazing spoiler. That is what makes college football so great. :)

Why would you doubt our undefeated team? Do you honestly think that Bama would come close to looking past Auburn after the past 6 years? If we played Auburn a week after Florida...I'd be more worried about Bama looking past Florida to Auburn than I am worried about Bama looking past Auburn to Florida.

I'm not doubting any team...I just know football and how 18-22 kids mental status can decide situations.

I'm sure Penn State fans weren't doubting them either, until Iowa beat them.

Last year was the wildest year in college football for the reasons I speak of. I'm not doubting our team, I just know the power an underdog can bring to the table.

JPW on his cell phone, Ingram dropping a toss sweep, Tiffin missing a FG (not the blocked FG) and many other mental errors could have cost us the LSU game.

I'm not doubting OUR team, I'm simply bringing light to a college tradition called the underdog.

I think we were an underdog once? 1992, maybe?

Anyway, the point of my topic is/was the fact that Florida and 'Bama's BIGGET RIVAL games...are setting up to be a trap games.

Nothing more, nothing less. I'm not making a prediction...just making a point. Most rival games, aren't trap games. Irony is at hand; was the point I was making

I didn't say we'd lose, so everyone keep your Crimson underpants on.

How is it a trap game when your team doesn't look ahead. Like I said...it's a RIVALRY game, those don't tend to get overlooked. If you knew the state of mind of 18 to 22 year olds, then you'd realize that they probably want to beat Auburn more than any other team on this schedule.

Our players and staff having a problem with overlooking Auburn and Tubby's 6 fingers??? I just don't see it. If anything this will be the one game that the upperclassmen assert their leadership.

I hope this is a beautiful gift delivered from the underclassmen to the upperclassmen (seniors in particular). They certainly deserve it. :)

Honestly, most Auburn fans I know of hold little hope of winning the IB this year. We *hope* we'll win, but we also hope that UGA and Alabama don't run the score up on us real bad.

The Iron Bowl is way to big for us to over look. And after the 6 streak, all these kids want to beat Auburn.

I think Urban has this team molded to where they won't take anything for granted....and thanks to Huston Nutt who went down to G-ville and stomped on their pride. Urban won't let them not be 110% ready. FSU isn't too shabby. Last time UF were in Tallahassee, it was 21-14, and a FSU kick retun that stepped out by the slimmest of shoe laces from being 21-21. FSU is inconsistant, but wild enough to run with Florida for a while. Might bang them up some too, with FSU's defense being pretty good. But UF is too hot right now to lose to FSU. But a metal and physical toll might be had on the Gators.

This is a good discussion and I can see it both ways.

Here is the deal, the players will be ready for AU but that does not mean it still can't be a trap game. The truth is "trap game" only gets used AFTER the game when the favorite loses.

Auburn is a good football team. They play in big boy, SEC football. They can beat us and might. I HOPE not.

I don't see either team looking past their in state rival, especially us because of this six thing. However, I could see us getting more excited about the win and it carrying forward into preparation for the next weeks game. On the other hand, UF has a streak going and they will move on quicker from beating FSU. That is the part that concerns me more than the Iron Bowl itself.

Why do I bring it up? 'Cause those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. Use the past as a tool to guide your future. Whoa, feeling real profound in my old age.

Actually, the series between Bama & AU is rife with underdog wins (no stats, just memory) & heavily mis-matched games (as this one would seem to be) scare me the most, as the team with no hope for a good season seems to take great pride in ruining the hopes of the other. That being said however, I just can't see our guys not being totally focused on beating ears & co.

If they want to use the past and something relevant just think of the past 6 years, no need to go back to 1972  Think that will be plenty of motivation.
