📝 DJ Dale Commits!

Great!! Now if we can get Tuitele (#2) to commit, we would have THREE DTs in the top 15 on Rivals - I will take that, with, or without, Sopsher (#1)!

As of right now, at SDE, we are coming hard for Pickering (#4), Alfano (#5), Eboigbe (#7), Handy (#8), Norton (UGA committ, #9), and Young (#11). Surely we get 2-3 of those.

At WDE, we just got a committ from Harris (#6) and we are also after Thibadeaux (#1), and Nolan Smith (#3, UGA committ); I know we often use these guys as a Jack Linebacker.... who knows, the KING Mwikuta is the #6 OLB, and we may beef him up and put him at Jack....

D-line recruiting is going WELL!!! Roll Tide!!!

Yeah Saban is putting a fence around Bama this year, supposed to be a really good year for recruits here, too. Only draw back of so many big ones committing now is that there is so much time between now and NSD.

The ESD ends on the 21st this season. There will be 10 bowl games that will have been played by the time the ESD period concludes (19th-21st.)

Last season there were high school playoffs games being played in Tuscaloosa leading into the second weekend of December.

So, this is streamlining what process? Saving time for...? Making it easier for...?

This is definitely a change of direction for Bama this recruiting cycle. Getting so many good state players is great to see and with so many having their minds made up early it's got to be helping to recruit others. The early signing period is here and it appears to me that some of these players are voicing concerns about numbers and are trying to secure positions rather than slow play the process. It feels like it's speeding up both sides.

I don't like where the early signing period falls either. Comes at a bad time for the HS student and the programs that are competing in or preparing for bowl games.

I was originally very much for an early singing period, but I had envisioned an Aug 1 or July 31 time frame. This allows for final visits over summer. Coaches could surge during summer workouts, pre-fall camp, based on priorities. Top recruits could make their decisions before or just as their senior year commences and avoid the headaches and distractions during their senior year. They should allow university's to bring early signees for game visits in the fall to further aid recruiting and welcome the signee to the school. Further, schools that guaranteed an academic scholarship to HS players who sign and may get injured during their senior year could see a big advantage, as well.

As it stands, the Dec date has more disadvantages than advantages only being ~6 weeks early.
