🏈 Derrick Thomas named to Hall of Fame ballot

I don't know if there was some set criteria that he had to reach, but DT should've been in the Hall about 10 years ago. This is long over due and he should be a "no-brainer"!!

Considering he's a member of the '09 NFL Hall of Fame class, he should be a shoe-in.

Nebraska's Frazier should be a "no-brainer" as well.

If i recall correctly I read somehwere years ago that to be eligible for the CFB HOF you had to have graduated. DT did not finish his degree until right up until his death. He had been secretly taking classes through various programs to complete his degree. In an article they said it was supposed to be a surprise for his mother. So since that all occured around 2000 I am shocked it hasnt happened earlier.

From an ESPN article about his NFL HOF Speech by Carl Peterson.
Derrick has aspirations beyond the football field. He wanted to earn his degree from the University of Alabama.
And coming to the Chiefs, I can tell you he was a long way from that. But in his 11 years, he spent time during the season and during the offseason, attending classes at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. A Lamonte Winston on our staff provided the needed assistance.
And a few months after his passing, I, my wife, Lamonte and a number of Kansas City Chiefs people, traveled back to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to watch his mother, Edith Morgan, and his beloved grandmother, Annie, walk across the commencement stage at the University of Alabama to receive Derrick Thomas' graduation diploma. It was a great day for everyone.

I'd forgotten about that. Thanks for the reminder...

No problem, anything you want to know about DT let me know. My all time favorite football player. College or Pro. I had the fortune of running into him as a kid in an elevator at the team hotel when Bama played Michigan in the HOF Bowl in Tampa. Great guy!

Derrick Thomas called his shot.
Kansas City's defensive end/linebacker, approaching his own NFL record for sacks in a game, signaled that he was about to tackle Jeff George for a safety in the waning minutes of Kansas City's 28-8 victory over Oakland on Sunday night.
"And then the sonofagun actually got that safety," said admiring teammate James Hasty. "Outstanding."

He was elected in the NFL Hall of Fame pretty quickly actually. Glad to see him getting some love! Now if only I could find a Derrick Thomas Alabama Jersey! I think I am going to have to order a custom one. I have been on the lookout for three years now!
