🏈 Dee Liner Has Been Granted His Release

It wouldn't surprise me if Reuben Foster left. Neither him or Liner are moving up the depth chart anytime soon.
Then there's the point he's moved from special teams and third string his first year, was the back-up interior linebacker behind Trey this past year, with hardly anyone behind him except Hand for 2015.

Some would call that moving up the depth chart with Foster.

We lose a lot after this season though. Could have starred next season. But I guess he may be resentful of losing his redshirt and needs more exposure for his last two years.

A lot of these kids can't see long term in hopes of one year to shine like Blake did. Liner would have been a senior before receiving significant playing time with the likes of Reed, Robinson, Allen, Tomlinson, etc.

exactly!

i don't want to say gone are the days when a player is grateful just to be able to play the game and be part of a great team. but for some they are indeed that way.

i often find it difficult to NOT look at it from a fans' perspective. to me, being able to play for The University of Alabama would be something that i would cherish and forever and would never want to end. but for the players, especially those who are stars and you know will be playing in the NFL some day, they don't think like that. to them, it's all about getting to that next step. and there's nothing wrong with that. it's just that sometimes it seems as though they don't love their time at The University enough to see it through from beginning to end.

players want to play, simple as that. and if they can get more playing time at another school, then they'll usually move on to get more of that time.

Well it's all about getting to the NFL. These guys typically don't give a damn how it happens or what school they attend, they just want that big pay day. They sell their rings and all their stuff after they leave anyways, so they don't care. Of course you have guys like Blake Sims, Barrett Jones, Kevin Norwood and others that take full advantage of other things Alabama offers, but a majority simply don't care. They wanna get momma out of that one bedroom shack, which I understand as well. Personally, I like yourself would cherish the history and the fact so many other greats have walked through those halls.

For many of these young players, this is exactly right. I think Cam Newton took it to new heights and set a precedence for a lower "bar" for players. He was a hired mule for one year and it worked for them. He didn't care where he played so long as he played. I remember him being interviewed after the season and he referred to Auburn as "the University of Auburn." He didn't even know his school's correct name.

I can't blame him even though I was hoping for big things from him considering he went to the same high school I did (and right now our biggest star is only famous for pulling down Ragland's pants...sigh). He's only doing what he thinks is best for him and his future and I certainly can't blame any kid that's trying to do that. I'll certainly be rooting for him except when he plays Bama of course.
