| FTBL Cullen Harper Says It's What He Deserved

Cullen Harper, the QB who was going to benched in favor of a true freshman, said about Bowden's firing, "he got what he deserved".

This punk has no right to say this about this man. Let this little boy try to become a man and make a living and have to make real decisions about real things before he runs that spoiled lip.

We care why? Just some kid saying what he thinks. I think you're over reacting to it.

Clemson's season started with a big thud, a 24-point loss to then-No. 24 Alabama that senior quarterback Cullen Harper said "really hurt our confidence."

Harper, who was benched after the Tigers' loss to Wake Forest and replaced by highly regarded sophomore Willy Korn, said the program needed to cut ties with Bowden.

"It's what he deserved," Harper said. "Dabo Swinney is a fine man and will do an excellent job."

Later Monday, Harper expanded on his comments, explaining that Bowden "tried to motivate us but guys were off the bandwagon. There were things I disagreed with and that my teammates disagreed with. I didn't appreciate it when he would say some off-the-wall things about me to the media. I guess one thing I can say is he gave me an opportunity to come to Clemson and play."

And, of course, Harper's Daddy felt in necessary to weigh in:

His father, Jeff Harper, an offensive lineman on Georgia's 1980 national championship team, said Bowden's dismissal was justified.

"I'd call it karma," he said. "I thought it needed to be done. I think anytime a head coach or someone in a leadership position starts to place blame on his coaches and players, it weakens their respect on the team. His past experiences have shown he's done that."

Thanks dad.

Sounds like someone's feelings got hurt because he was benched. If I was Dabo, he'd stay on the bench for the rest of the year or he could pack his bags as well.

I feel the same, Porter. Cullen Harper must believe that he is an NFL player and his opinion means something.

You hit the nail on the head.

Pretty classless, especially coming from a senior. Say what you will about Bowden, this guy spent 5 yrs with him, and this is his parting shot? Sad.

Somebody should tell that little punk Harper that he got benched for a reason...he's a horrible quaterback, but apparently he thinks he's something special.

Bowden can't make the players play hard and they haven't played hard at all since the first 2 mins of the Bama game. Harper should stay on the bench.

That may be his problem, Cory. He still believes the hype that revolved around him before the 'Bama game. He may need to come on down off of that cloud.

Brandon, it's as if we were seperated at birth! :D

Damn Brandon. You just going to sit there and let him insult your momma like that?

I had some Clemson fan talking smack to me over this, can you believe it? He had sent an email telling everyone that TB had been fired, and that Dabo was taking over. All I did was say that they'd be in good hands since he's a former bama player and coach. I never even said anything to him about our arse whipping earlier in the year.

He responded back with, "Like your boy Dubose?"

I had to go from there, with "At least he won a SEC championship" and his reply was, "How are you feeling after the wake of those sanctions? We prefer to win without cheating".

Of course I just replied back that I feel pretty good right now, and that it's been so long since they've won anything, I'm surprised he even remembers what that was. He never replied back, but I was hoping to throw in there that Danny Ford was a bama boy, too. I guess he finally realized that Clemson doesn't have anything to talk smack about.

Technically, he has the right, everyone does. Doesn't make what he said correct, but he has the right.

You should have asked him about the number of times Clemson has fallen under that NCAA hammer.
