šŸˆ Comparing SEC fans: best and worst

Not sure if this has been discussed here before but I met a Georgia fan last night and due to the lack of SEC fans up here, we became fast friends. We got to talking about our favorite/least favorite SEC fans (that we have met/known).

We are both in agreement that the absolute worst are Florida, Auburn, and Tennessee (must be an orange thing) :puke:<-- notice the puke is orange, too.

What do you guys think? I have met a few Arkansas and South Carolina fans through the years, and as a whole they were a fun group. Though one of the SC fans told me that she hates the fanbase overall .. Weird. She is from Columbia so maybe it just gets overwhelming? I dunno.

LSU fans are a paradox. They're cool to party with, but they are by far the worst people I have ever met in person. Guess I'm split between them. South Carolina fans are alright, nothing wrong with them really. All I hear them talk about is Clemson. Never really had a problem with Tennessee fans other than they're extremely obnoxious whenever they're good at anything and whine like LSU fans about the refs. Vandy fans are nice. Florida fans are okay, just a little cocky when they're winning, but overall they're alright. A&M fans online are much different than A&M fans in person. A&M fans on message boards are annoying as hell.

Georgia fans are full of themselves and delusional. Auburn is like a smaller fan base of Georgia, just they suffer from little brother syndrome, care only about 1 thing and 1 thing only and that is beating Alabama. When you grow up with an inferiority complex, it begins to run your mind into the ground knowing you'll never be superior at anything with everyone always have a perception on you and your school that you're just a step child. Well, that has happened for quite some time with barners and you'll see them in Jordan Hare checking scores and trying to find whatever they can to put Alabama down. Some of their fans seriously follow Alabama recruits around all day just to find some dirt. Then they create the conspiracies, then deflect anything bad about to straight to Alabama. They hate Alabama more than they love Auburn and they know it, just won't admit it. Most delusional, egotistical, loud mouth, 'bama-obsessed, hypocritical, backward ass fan base in America.

I honestly just don't GET Auburn fans. I understand sports rivalries. I really do. Look at where I'm from. But Auburn fans are just .. bizarre. Like bamaraider said, they basically care more about toppling the "evil Alabama empire" than their own damn team. And they preach and act like they are all high and mighty and pious and whatnot .. and are some of the biggest hypocrites in CFB .. "Alabama makes up championships to add to their tally!" .. "Oh just kidding we are gonna add more to ours". Ugh. Cannot stand them. Glad I don't live near any haha. But a bunch of bandwagoners showed up in DC around the Cam days. I remember seeing that putrid logo on hats in the Metro and wanting to vomit.

Philly, you have to move to Alabama to really get how pathetic their fans are. Whenever they're not winning, they immediately stop caring for football (See 2008, 2011, and 2012). They constantly are looking for something to put Alabama down. I'm sure their google history is sort of like this: "Alabama cheats", "Alabama illegal boosters", "Bama fans", etc.. They're dysfunctional human beings.

Trying to! ;)

Question .. What areas of Alabama are more Barn infested than others? I have heard them trumpeting that they "own Mobile" now but like, in terms of Birmingham, Montgomery, the Shoals, Huntsville, etc. .. like different regions of the state .. who "owns" what parts?

Highest concentration of barner fans is around Montgomery, though we do go in there to get players. Birmingham, Huntsville, Shoals areas lean Bama. Barn owning Mobile is just another of their delusions, though Damayeune Craig has made them competitive there.

I agree that anything orange sucks, but I would have to say Georgia. i grew up a Georgia fan and even saw it when I was a fan from some of the more delusional ones that scream "undefeated" season every year. once I went to Alabama and became an outsider I really saw how pathetic Georgia fans were and how assholish they were as well. They have some good programs there, but their fans for the most part are crappy, minus some of the good ones of course. They're just cocky as any one I have ever seen, and to not really have anything to brag about is even more crazy.

What made you go from Georgia to school in Alabama? Just curious :-) Glad you changed allegiances!

Auburn and Tennessee and then LSU right behind them. I end up wanting to choke Auburn fans by the end of the season, at least I'm far enough from Tennessee and LSU fans that I dont have to hear em as much.

lol the comment that they own Mobile, is priceless. In terms of recruiting its not even close and in terms of fanbase its even further from the truth. Like was already said Montgomery, Opelika, Phenix City, that whole lil section there in central Bama is Barn country. The majority of the rest of south bama and central bama and all of north bama is all Bama. I live in southeast bama and its probably 10-1 Alabama fans to Auburn until you get closer to Montgomery and start seeing those god awful Auburn flags.

Only driven by Montgomery twice in my life, so I cannot tell you. I do know the Prattville County area has a lot of alumni and fans.

If you really want to meet a fan base full of damn trolls its the Ohio State fan base.

Worst SEC - in order: Auburn, Auburn, LSU, Auburn, and Tennessee
non-SEC - Notre Dame/Michigan (tie), Oregon, Texas, Miami, FSU

fan bases I tend to like - Arkansas, Penn State, Oklahoma

I screwed up at the beginning of my college career, but ended very strong with my first degree. Georgia forced me to count my mistakes as an 18 year old in the classroom whereas Alabama was willing to look at my final 60 hours in which I had a 3.6 GPA, and they accepted me. I never have Georgia an opportunity after what Alabama offered me, so I said screw Georgia and the rest is history. My allegiance is to Alabama and only Alabama, and I have gone hardcore very quickly. The city of Tuscaloosa welcomed my family and me with open arms and the Forest Lake neighborhood I bought my house in were the greatest people I have ever met. They grew even tighter after the tornado and they treated us like royalty.

It depends on what time frame you're looking at to how "close it is." It is interesting they've started this "we own Mobile" as of late—especially with the hiring of Craig. I saw a figure yesterday that we've pulled six from the Mobile area in the last three recruiting cycles, Auburn five. I'm not sure how the numbers work out but it's not a case where one school "owns Mobile." Out of the top three players from that area Auburn signed two of them last year.

What I do find interesting is a case can be made for neither school "owning Mobile" if you take the number of kids who left the state.

On another note, the best response I've seen to this line that "Auburn owns Mobile" is "Alabama owns Auburn High."

The one fan base I have a prejudiced attitude towards is UGA—it's nothing to do with their football allegiance. (I still hold a pretty dim view in that light—2007 is one example where their fans tore down flags and one pole in the N end zone.)

The way they literally trash a campus with their tailgates turns me off to no end. The thing is, it's not just limited to a trip out of town. They trash their own campus, weekly.

I guess I'm a bigot. I can't abide trashy people.

I have to reenforce the whole Georgia thing. Growing up, I never paid them any attention, they were nobodies. Then I graduated from UA, got married, and moved to Georgia. I can't believe how horrible most of them are, especially some of the women I know! One of the worst was a girl I worked with a few years ago. You can tell its deeply seated in jealousy, whether they admit it or not.

I have had UGA fans insult my entire family (when my kids were really young, like before my youngest was even born) because we were at a public even wearing Alabama stuff. Of course it was a couple of hours before kick-off on game day in 08 when we kicked their a$$ all over the field. But they are all so arogant, you would think they had won the National title 40 years in a row.

As much as some dislike Paul Finebaum, there were several of them that dumped beer all over him during a post-game TV spot.

To say the least, I can't tell you how glad I am to having them rotating back on the schedule in 2015.

Side note: As much as we hear fans bitch about schedules, it's funny now that I think about what I just posted...can't say I've seen a single Bama fan mention the point we're playing at UGA back to back instead of them visiting BDS.

Talk of Mobile being owned by the barn is pure rubbish. There are tons of Bama fans around here. That being said there are plenty of orange around here as well (Auburn, Florida, some Tennessee, and even some Texas fans .
