I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that 3.1 million is probably the other part.
I get the going home part but I would have issues going home if I had to work for Franklin unless Day is just terrible to work for. OSU seems to be a better gig but Ohio does suck. The money is too, but he was set to get about the same at OU and probably even Ohio State as well supposedly.

First time, He was stubborn with his offense/defense playcalling. When he came back to College, He learned a lesson and you can tell. He'll be fine as OC.Hell, He already stunk it up in the NFL.. Why go back..
It would be, but it also means we didn't have the best product on the field, something others are seeking to emulate. People don't come for the coordinators unless you're winning, so it's a double-edged sword.Love that we're not the ones being gutted completely in the OC/DC position this year. Watching all these schools struggle will be wonderful.
Carroll choosing Kelly ... hiring a guy that won last year in a similar role, but lost at the job for which he was hired. It would be, but it also means we didn't have the best product on the field, something others are seeking to emulate. Seeing OSU take a hit made me happy. Will this lead to Jeremiah Smith taking the portal plunge? Anything to blow up OSU. I think I hate them more than Tennessee now. It's close.
How in the hell are these players worth that much money?… Alabama run a huge deficit this year… but Ohio State ended up with a $38 million deficit.. They are in the red and 23 million of that was for their players…I saw something where people are saying A&M is tampering with him and offering $10-12M a year.
They won their Championship and bought Ryan Day another ten years, so I can't be happy about them taking a hit, much like Michigan last year, because it was something that can't be taken away from them at this point, even with a few crappy seasons to follow.
The report of the 38 million dollar deficit was for a period that ended in June of '24. So, if Caleb was paid BY the athletic department it wouldn't be a part. How in the hell are these players worth that much money?… Alabama run a huge deficit this year… but Ohio State ended up with a $38 million deficit..
