That conflicts with the reports of them wanting to take personnel control from him and him not agreeing to it....

Sources told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio that Lurie had been thinking for weeks about making changes in the team's structure, including stripping Kelly of personnel control.

That suggestion was made to Kelly when he met with Lurie recently, sources said, and Kelly balked at the idea.

Been watching CSN Philly nonstop since Eagles app broke the news.

Chip lost locker room weeks ago. It showed on Saturday night. Chip's presser on Monday was bizarre. Lurie met with him earlier today, Chip wouldn't cede GM powers, so they released him (and I bet for other reasons too that will come to light later).

Most people are stunned but happy. Nobody liked him after the GM move. Can't plug and play in NFL. He tries to apply college philosophies to pros. Talent is key, not culture.

Shurmur is interim HC. I reckon they go for Pettine (once he is canned) or if they want to keep the offensive minded stuff going, Hue Jackson. Fans want Jackson. Think we move to a 4-3 as well. Should be interesting but a tough couple years.

I'd be surprised if he comes back to the college game. He's made comments about the amount of effort recruiting is, dealing with parents, and NCAA issues are in the past and that he just wanted to coach football. The question is, did 3 years in the NFL open his eyes up to the negatives of the NFL?

I read that, too, after I posted. He could wind up at Tennessee or Indianapolis in a couple of weeks. Both have young and solid QBs for him to further develop...or...regress. :naughtydevil:
