🏈 CFN.Scout.com has their record (w/l) for the SEC forecast out today

Their guess is just as valid as anyone elses right now. I'm thinking that this team could be better than last years team. We'll find out soon enough.

I don't think there is a site that provides as much college football coverage as CFN—hence the name.

However, the problem I have is sacrificing details for quantity. That's something they do often. Right now, LSU is a game I see as one hard to peg in terms of W or L.

But, the talent disparity at Auburn as compared to half of the West division teams is HUGE.

No kidding, Terry. There are D1AA teams that could beat Auburn or at least come close, and that is not a joke.

Yeah, I saw them earlier today and was like, come on, Auburn, realy? LSU I can see, and maybe Ole Miss or VT. But Auburn? We're talking about Auburn here.

They have UGA pretty high too. #5. Have them winning their first 4, and then losing to UT? So they will go 5-0, win @Okla State, and beat LSU, but somehow they can't win @ UT. Riiiiiiight.

I usually follow CFN.com pretty close during the season, but they threw me for loop this year already.

:lance:

just a flat out guess. he probably has us going 10-2 with no idea who the losses would come from so he just picked two. i really dont see us losing to the barn. if we lost 2, i would see it coming from VT, Lsu, or Ole Miss

did they have ole miss going undefeated with the highlighted columns? then the record said 9-3.

I wouldn't go quite that far, but if someone forced me to make a pick right now, I'd have to pick UA in that game as well. I think Auburn has a legitimate shot at the 7-5 record they predicted, I'd probably change a win or two around, however.

Which wins and losses would you switch around?

I think BF was having a little fun with the 1AA comment. However, I look at that opener you guys have and really wonder just how good La. Tech is going to be. I think about your game last year with MSU and then my mind travels to the first game of last season where they dropped 22 on MSU.

And, they return A LOT of their starters from last year.

My gut tells me that game is going to be closer than most expect it to be.

I think we are going to beat LSU, but at least that is remotely within the realm of logic, but Auburn?!?? I don't want to come across as arrogant, but that is just not rational.

Plus, UT is going to beat Georgia?!? Not feeling that one either.

Honestly, LA Tech does concern me a bit. Our offense should be better, but we thought that last year too. Our D should be able to hold LA Tech in check though. It is a potential set-up game but I think we'll walk away with it.

I wouldn't guarantee losses to UT--I think they may be one of the few teams that are in a worse position than we are. They have a lot of talent, but it is very young. I can't get behind promising a loss over Arky, nor a win over WVA either. I'd probably give the win back to Bama and take Arky and/or UT.

As far as Bama, VA Tech is potential land mine to start the season but it should be pretty smooth sailing. I look at the LSU game as a push for you guys. I still have to pick you guys over us, as well. I'd say conservatively, Bama finishes no worse than 10-2 this year unless McElory just stinks it up or the O-line doesn't click with the replacements. Obviously in the SEC a lot can change but you certainly didn't draw the short stick with regards to scheduling. Unless you drop a game you shouldn't, running the table is certainly possible again. VA Tech has a knack for playing down in big games and if they do that this year, Bama will eat them alive.

I am lost. Are we really discussing Loser Tech? Really????:headscratch:

That's reasonable all the way around.

I'm not sure what you mean by "walk away with it." With any game like this, the SEC team should win handily. Much like UT, if Auburn centers on running the ball instead of trying to win the game through the air the chances of winning improve. I don't know if Malzahn is going to be able to stick with a running game though—his former boss certainly felt if given the chance he'd call a passing play every down.

UT—that is a wait until game week call. In all seriousness, the two teams mirror each other. An injury bug hitting one of the lines and the season is on the edge of the cliff looking for something to hold on to.

Arky? Wow. If their offense is clicking? I just don't see Auburn keeping up in a shoot-out.

As to our season? Logic tells me 10-2 at worst, but I wouldn't be at all disappointed with dropping one SEC contest because I still think that puts us in ATL.

To say the least, I'm not sold on Va. Tech. But, getting into that conversation is something I'm forcing myself to wait until a little before the game to broach.

Yes, considering they open their season vs Auburn.

I know they were 8-5 last year. But, their season took a bit of turn-around when they changed QB's—and he returns this season. They return their best playmaker (he's a little guy at WR, but fun to watch,) their entire offensive line, and a group of RB's that are good as well. (9 starters return overall)

The biggest holes they have to fill on defense are their cornerbacks. And, right now, I'm not convinced Auburn will be ready to attack their secondary with their passing game.

This game has a chance to be a very interesting match-up.

La. Tech season could end up a disappointing 7-5 and easily could turn into a 9-3 type campaign. November is the month to watch on this team.

CFN picks LaTech over Boise State. If they are good enough to beat Boise State, then they are good enough to beat the barn.

All of their-what I would call dumb picks-involve giving too big of a nod to the home team. Like LaTech AT Auburn, Boise State AT LaTech(yes, they picked BSU to lose AT LT after picking LT to lose AT Auburn):headscratch:, UGA AT ut, WVU AT Auburn, UK AT Auburn, UM AT SC, and, of course, Bama AT Auburn. Then they don't give the nod to the home team when picking LSU to win AT Bama. :headscratch: I think they are wrong on every single one of those games.

I would have a hard time picking Auburn over Montana, Northern Iowa, James Madison, or Richmond, at this point...first game of the season with a new coaching staff, new system, and only 75 scholarship players - just 12 more than a FCS school. Later in the season maybe, but game one? I think Auburn could lose to any of them.
