🏈 CFN has released our team preview!!

That's a pretty solid preview by Fuitak. Ironically, it mirrors what most Bama fans have been saying and because of that will likely be discounted by a lot of rivals.

A few thoughts...

 • Did you catch him mentioning he tought Hightower might be the best defensive player of the bunch? It mirrors Saban's thoughts. Last year, Saban stated he wanted dominating playmakers at every position and mentioned three specifically; Jones, Cody and Johnson. This year, Johnson's name was replaced by Hightower.
 • Fuitak, along with others, still have the notion that Star Jackson is going to be a spread quarterback.
 • He also mentions concerns about pass protection, which I share to a degree. He backs his thoughts up with the sack totals from the last two seasons, mentioning 25 last season. True. But, that figure read a lot differently until the eight given up against Utah.
 • "Truly special" is what he sees as a possibility for the defense. I go back to the beginning of fall camp and remember a few former players commenting that they saw what could end up being the best defense Alabama's ever seen. Not last year's, mind you, but the talent they saw on the field. How good will this group end up being?
 • Gut feeling? A hope with the chance of it being a reality? Either way I've got one of those sneaking feelings Zo is going to be appreciated come seasons' end for his contributions on defense.
 • In total agreement on pass defense. We are still a year or two away from having a pair of true lock-down corners.
Thanks for the link Isra!!

So, it's not just us delusional bammers saying these things.

His listing of "best players"

1.

2. DT Terrence Cody, Sr.
3. LB Rolando McClain, Jr.
4. LB Dont'a Hightower, Sr.
5. CB/PR Javier Arenas, Sr.
6. RB Mark Ingram, Soph.
7. RB Trent Richardson, Fr.
8. CB Dre Kirkpatrick, Fr.
9. S Kareem Jackson, Jr.
10. CB Kareem Jackson, Jr.

He incorrectly shows Hightower as a senior, but actually only two of his ten choices are seniors. I expect Rolando to go as well, but if we lose three of our best ten, what does that say about 2011?!

RTR,

Tim

You're welcome Terry. But the preview worths this post. One of the best write-ups about the Crimson Tide that you can read all around the Internet and on magazines. IMHO Fiutak is a hell of an analyst...

RTR,

Terry got the best ones (as usual) but I'll throw in one more.

The massive lineman (Cody) has gotten in better shape to be even quicker and more active, but that's not his role. His job will be to stuff everything on the inside and be the one the rest of the fantastic run defense works around.

I think everyone knows what Cody's primary role is, but don't think for a second Saban hasn't been in his ear about providing some real pressure up the middle on pass rushing.

All in all a pretty fair article with some actual homework down. Not complete, but better than most.
