šŸˆ CBS Sports claims Sims is favorite to start vs. WVU

If it does hold true, good luck to Blake. He has been the ultimate team player if you consider how he has taken position changes in stride and never complained about playing time. I'd love for him to come out and just light it up and make it difficult for the staff to even consider making a switch. Either way, we know that Coach Saban is going to put the best possible option out there for us to win the game. Some of these idiots that like to play the race card should look no further than what Saban did at LSU. If P. Simms had been capable, it would've been AJ transferring elsewhere and Phillip as the trigger man these last 3 years.

Alabama plans to start quarterback Blake Sims in its season opener vs. West Virginia on Saturday, a source told FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman.

The new was first reported by CBS Sports.

Sims, a senior from Gainesville, Ga., backed up former Tide starter AJ McCarron the past two seasons. Sims played in eight games in 2013, completing 18 of 29 passing attempts for 167 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 61 yards on 15 tries.

Sims was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2010. He was intensely recruited by then-Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin, although as a wide receiver. Kiffin is now the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in Tuscaloosa under head coach Nick Saban.

Alabama's other viable option at quarterback is Florida State transfer Jacob Coker, a junior who served as the backup to the Seminoles' Heisman winner Jameis Winston last season.

Alabama has not made an official announcement on who will start Week 1.

Earlier in the week, Saban did employ a baseball analogy involving Yankees manager and friend Joe Girardi to indicate that the starter won't be guaranteed of going the distance whatever the plan going into the game.

"I mean, Joe Girardi tells (Masahiro) Tanaka he's starting in the game, he's not telling him he's going to pitch nine innings," he said. "Does he tell them that or does he just pitch until he doesn't pitch well anymore?"

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Sounds as if CNS is suggesting that Sims is gonna play the whole game.

How is everyone interpreting CNS's comments?

I haven't listened to "Hey Coach," so I'm basing my interpretation purely on what's been written.

•A whole lot of speculation can be found anywhere you look around media reports on the 'net.
•Saban is tired of the questions.
•Some reporters are trying to goad him into being more definitive with his statements.
•No one is really willing to put their name behind "Sims is starting."

Take that last bullet point. The RSS feed claims Bruce Feldman has a source that's told him it's Blake. FOXSports defers to reporting CBS reported. No where in the article is Bruce cited or quoted. In fact, the article isn't even written by Feldman.

I'm still in the same position I was two weeks ago with one exception. I'm tired of the guessing, the citing of unnamed sources, and the inability for a lot to just say, "both are playing, they'll settle it on the field."
