🏈 Cash sought for Cam Newton

Even though Cam had a relationship with Mullen, a head coach would/should always delegate the dirty work to a subordinate. The logic being that if the worst happens and someone finds out - you can always fire a subordinate and claim you knew nothing. There is still a lot of speculation out there right now. But, obviously, Cecil's admission isn't good for Auburn fans and I would be very surprised at this point if Auburn comes out of this thing unscathed.

I really have mixed feelings about this whole thing. As a fan of an Alabama program with their own recent NCAA issues, I admit it's entertaining to see 'the Barn' fans suffering a little. And a lot of your own posts DO have a smarmy tone. At the same time, I can't help but feel a little bad for any college football fans who may be looking down the barrel of the NCAA's shotgun of wrath.

Whatever happens from here on out, a lot of damage has already been done to Auburn's image. Cam will probably still win the Heisman unless they get this thing resolved in the next couple of weeks. And, I'm not sure that sitting him out for Georgia or Alabama would help anything at this point and would probably even make it worse. They might as well take their chances and go 'all in' at this point.

I posted this in another thread yesterday....just my guess to why he would call someone other than mullen

I know there has been some questions about who these "recruiters" for Miss state are since only coaches are allowed to recruit.

Well i met a lady last night that in conversation called her self a recruiter for for the university she went to. of course that got my interest so i asked a few more questions. She said she was one of the girls that they put with recruits when they come to campus to help "recruit". things she said.....

"We had to be careful about what they did and where they took the recruits so they wouldnt get in trouble".

"Having seen it all from the inside and having some backgorund knowledge it goes on everywhere".

So i know some have asked the question why would Cam call a recruiter to apologise to....my speculation is that he would feel so comfortable talking wtith one of these girls...like a friend/girl friend. he probably had a lot more contact with her thru phone, text, email, and other (e.g. dates) than he ever would have a coach (because they are limited by ncaa). He had built a personal relationship with her and felt like he was cheating on her (so to speak) and wanted to tell her he was sorry for having to change his mind.

For the record....she didn't go to Miss State...

Cam didn't call or talk to Mullen, because he Flat Out Lied to Him and Stabbed Mullen in the Back and Heart! If Cam had chosen say Oklahoma maybe he calls Mullen but he Does the worst thing possible he goes to a team that plays Ms State....also, Cam was all in with Mullen, done deal....as far as Mullen was concerned and in the 11th hour decides to try to extort money in order to play for Ms State....Honestly, Duder Cam has Never been Loyal,Honest and/or Trustworthy to any school....Truth be told, I bet you everything that The Newton's Shakedown everybody they deal with....Cheaters and Thieves Don't Cheat and Steal only 2 Days a week! It's a way of life for them....24-7! Also, an Honest Law Abiding Citizen wouldn't hang around the Sleeze that's in this group, Nor would they know how to find people like this! The old sayings are so true, The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From the Tree....Like Father, Like Son! It's past time for the Auburn Fans to Stand up and make it clear that CN DOESN'T DESERVE TO PUT ON AN AUBURN JERSEY! If the Barn Fans are still willing to Throw Away the Football Program for at least the next 10 yrs. All because of your Hopes for this year....You Deserve to take your place....Right Along side the Titanic!

Roll Tide Roll!

Point well-taken on the Mullen thing if State were actually entertaining the offer; that is an angle I had not gotten to yet. If they were clean as they claimed at first, it would've seemed that Newton would've called Mullen. I don't know, maybe I'm naive and still trying to believe he isn't a complete ass.

Cecil's admission does look bad. It'll be interesting to see who actually draws the short straw. At this point MSU looks pretty bad. Auburn either knows someone that no one else does or Jay Jacobs is a complete idiot and needs to be fired ASAP. If the only info they have is the same info we have based on media reports, Jacobs must have balls of steel.

I will admit to having a little chuckle at the expense of Bama during the probation days but I did really feel bad for the kids on the team. As for the smarmy tone, with the exception of one poster in particular (whom I've blocked to avoid the situation) I generally try to be respectful. Yesterday was a bit of a misnomer. As for yesterday, check out page 25 (I think,) or read where BamaCore quoted and responded just below your post.

The only thing that Auburn saves by benching Newton if they have information that Cam's eligibility is truly in question is the potential to lessen any any sanctions that may or may not occur. If there were to be NCAA sanctions and Auburn thumbed their nose by playing him after being told his eligibility was in question that hammer gets much, much larger.

1 Serious Question for Duder....Knowing The Newtons wanted Money, If you were their Attorney, How would you explain the Fact that 5 Churches were Repaired Pro-Bono for Mr.Newton?!

Roll Tide Roll!

Were there 5 churches repaired? I either missed that detail or it is lost in the myriad of other possibilities, accusations, admissions, etc.

This is total guesswork and I assume by your question you mean how were the repairs made legally :)

He has an older son that currently plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Even the NFL minimum is quite the salary. I know I personally wouldn't let my father lose a church (or churches) if I had the means to help him. The repairs cost what, 50k? It seems any NFL player should be able to foot that kind of bill.

That's it. With my limited knowledge that is the only answer I have. It is purely opinion but if I were an attorney and Cecil were guilty, I'd run like hell with that story.

Otherwise? I have no idea

I have no first hand knowledge about the repairs to the churches, but in the area where I live it is not unheard of for contractors to step in and help churches in their area without charge, or even for church members who have skills to step in and do the work themselves. Larger churches have even been known to help smaller churches. I'm not ready to jump to the conclusion that the churches were fixed with the money Cecil got from _____ (fill in the blank) for Cam going to Auburn.

That could make sense. Wouldn't it be a tax write-off for the contractors? I may be wrong.

It is a tax write off any work i do (or my partner does) pro bono for a church is written off.
But by far and large......The Chruches are some of my best paying customers.

But if what i'm hearng in phone conversations i've had over the past few days.....
it was ONE contractor. Just one. that did all the work. If that contractor has any ties what so
ever to Auburn University....they have a smoking gun and AU is in much deeper do do than anyone thought.
And yes i'm digging. Slow time of year for me. So i have the time @ the office to do some digging.

Whether Cam is playing legally or not, he is hands down the best player in the country this year, proving it in the best conference in the land. I'm afraid he is going to thrash our D in a couple of weeks. And Gene is in the front running for coach of the year, as much as I hate to admit it. What a turnaround they have made.

No disrespect, 24, but I'm grateful that you will not be donning a Crimson jersey against AU.

I have every confidence that Bama will find a way to win the Iron Bowl, but we first have to care of business in two other games.

I want this team to win out, land a respectable bowl bid, and somehow find its way into the Top 5 in the final polls. Then it's on to snagging some talent.

RTR!

Bama has every right to be confident. They're not the weak team that has shown up off and on since the USCjr debacle. If Auburn wins I sincerely doubt it is because Cam "crushes" your defense.

Duder, Yes, I read 5 churches were repaired. i posted a link at the beginning of this thread that you can pull up the article. Sorry, I don't remember the web address.

I'll take your word for it. We're 28 pages in now. I've given up on trying to explain or understand any of it at this point. As soon as I think I understand what happened or have an idea, another story comes out that trashes that idea.

I tried to warn of this back on Page 2.

Touche, Brandon. In my defense, I don't think any of us knew how convoluted this crap would become!

Hell I don't even know what "sources" to believe anymore! Supposedly Cam met with the NCAA Thursday and that prompted Auburn's confidence but, of course, "sources" cite this--not people.

Thank god for off-weeks!
