Cecil Newton admits talking about money with former MSU players but says Cam and Auburn are clean...

and of course, we all believe him because we are stupid. Please, obviously he's done nothing but lie up until this point. The Auburn and Cam are clean stuff is just more lies.
Duder, go away! You have NO BUSINESS on the Bama site anyway! I'm sick of your 2cents on every topic! CAM AND AUBURN ARE GUILTY AND YOU KNOW IT!
The nerve of an Auburn fan to come on this site and start chastising us for poking fun at Auburn. If you can't handle it, go back to your own message boards. Nobody asked you to come here.
According to the ncaa, the mere solicitation of extra benefits renders a player ineligible. According to an "expert" on a sports show. With Cecil admitting this, it is only a matter of time before TSHTF. Since Bama is eliminated from the NC race..........I have found myself wanting da barn to win it all.............................................then watch it all taken away from them and get crippled with sanctions.
Not chastising you for poking fun at Auburn--at this point this is a twenty-five page thread mostly mocking Auburn. I simply pointed out an ironic statement. I didn't attack any of the posters, simply noted the irony of someone mocking Auburn for claiming titles that no one credits them with. I also referenced the fact the university claims one.
Nothing I said was untrue or hostile, with the exception of the reference to the 41 title which yes, crossed a line being that I am on a Bama board and for that I apologize.
EDIT: I will back-track here. I was in a horrible mood this morning and became what I despise ("that" kind of fan on our boards) and for that I apologize. Ordinarily I would've laughed the comment off and went about my way, obviously this morning that judgement was lacking. No excuses, no explanations.
Although for the record, I do not claim anything from '04 other than the SEC title

My guess would be we end up sitting Cam which greatly reduces the chance of making it to Glendale.
It is noted in the article that the guy attended Auburn and remains active in the liberal arts department. Another aside, he also used to write for "The Plainsmen". I sincerely doubt this is another sensationalized piece of journalism. Granted, it still cites a "source" but I have a hard time believing an Auburn grad, still active with the university, would quote bogus stats.
I was wrong for defending Cecil and I will eat my crow. Cecil Newton is apparently an absolute ass. I sincerely hope he is telling the truth and that Cam and Ms. Newton didn't know anything about it although given his track record...
At this point my only hope is that Cam didn't know, which looks increasingly doubtful and that "discussing" and "soliciting" are different in the eyes of the NCAA. Also doubtful.
Before Cam Newton committed to Auburn, one of the Mississippi State recruiters said Cecil Newton told him it would take “more than a scholarship” to land his son, the ESPN.com report said. The recruiter said the school would not be willing to do that. After committing to Auburn, Cam Newton phoned another recruiter and said his father had chosen Auburn because “the money was too much,” according to ESPN.com.
What the hell do you mean "Didn't know". of course he KNEW.
Allow me to paraphrase that statement:
As in daddy says i can't go to play for Coach Mullen cause they won't pay and Auburn will, and the money Auburn is offering is too much to pass up.
Sounds to me like he knew every damn thing.
anic:I hear ya!!!!! He knew something. Had to.
for all we know it was Mullen.
