šŸˆ Carlos Dunlap charged with DUI

Urban will implement the Greg Brady punishment scale - no TV for a week!

Seriously, though, I'm sure CUM will have a stern talk with Mr. Dunlap and will punish him severely for his transgression. Let me consult my CUM/UF football player punishment scale. Hmmmm, let's see:

- arrest? yes, hmmm not good,
- national media reporting? yes, ouch not good again.
- property damage? Great News!! no!
- personal damage? Also No!!

- IS the player a starter? yes
- Is the player an impact player? yes
- IS the next game a substantial game? yes indeed

ok, let's see.... section 3(d)... sub-article (c)... carry the two.....

Dunlap has to carry the water jug to the sideline and do the first fill on all of the cups! Case closed!! Bad Boy!!

Mixed emotions here...

beat them while they are at full strength

or hope he has to sit the game out

Guess I'm going with using any advantage...bench him for the next game & let him play in the bowl game.

Bama will prepare as if he's going to be there the whole game. My money is on him starting and finishing, especially if the team gets a "vote" on it.

Is it really a vote if it's going to be unanimous to begin with, and everyone knows it? What about players who might think that he needs to be suspended? Anyone think their opinion or rights will be respected?

He's playing, and it won't matter. bama is still going to win.

A vote? Why the hell should the players get a vote? That is solely on the shoulders of the head coach to make a decision.

What was Carlos Dunlap thinking?

December 01, 2009
By Ken Rogers

It is hard to imagine what Carlos Dunlap was thinking.
The immensely talented defensive end for Florida was arrested early Tuesday morning after police found his asleep behind the wheel of his running car.
Police watched the light go through several cycles around 3:30 a.m. before approaching a 2000 Chrysler, registered to his father, also named Carlos Dunlap.
Dunlap, a 6-foot-6, 285-pound NFL prospect who leads the Gators with seven sacks this season, probably will not play against Alabama on Saturday, his father told the Orlando Sentinel Tuesday afternoon.
What does Nick Saban say? Players have freedom of choice, but not freedom from consequences.
This doesn’t look good from any angle. What does Carlos Dunlap tell his parents? His coach? His teammates?
This is nothing short of a betrayal. Four days before an SEC Championship Game that Meyer himself called one of the biggest games he’s ever been part of, one of the Gators’ team leaders gets drunk? That’s a pretty selfish decision.
Monday, Alabama and Florida provided three players each to participate in the players’ teleconference. As you can imagine, they don’t pick poor players for this role. Alabama was represented by Greg McElroy, Rolando McClain and Javier Arenas. Florida picked Tim Tebow, Joe Haden and Carlos Dunlap.
Dunlap talked about the year of experience being so valuable to the Gators. Here’s a part of what he said Monday:
ā€œOf course, with the year of experience, just being together as a team, you trust one another and like knowing your teammates, like what they’re going to do in certain situations or like what they know what you’re going to do,ā€œ he said.
ā€œSo if I was like the counter or something and (Brandon) Spikes fit in my gap, just small things like that. Just playing together. Like growing up together, when you play with the same basketball team. They know when you’re going to do certain things. There’s respect for your teammates.ā€œ
Talk is cheap. Too bad he didn’t show that respect early Tuesday morning.
