Center was getting blown up. I am not impressed with our 2nd string center.... Looked like the rest of the 1st string OL was still in the game. Of course 73 was killing somebody. In this game seemed like 70 was having some struggles at times pass protecting. Hard to be critical of a 41-0 game but the offense was not as crisp in this game.

That was a “fade trap” block by center 79. He led his man down and to the weak side and effectively trapped him out of the play

IDK, looks like normal split zone to me, and the C just gets knocked back. Good thing the uncovered RG doubles on the NT, and doesn't allow the NT to blow up the play in the backfield. Tucker does his job, comes across the formation to block the free edge man coming off the offense's right side.

All the other OL are firing out in zone blocking angles slightly to the left, indicating split zone.

I saw an O line dominate a game. They seemed to play with a nasty streak and I liked it. Following my LazEboy coaching analysis it stands to reason for the aforementioned things to transpire, it would indicate that the players executed as assigned the majority of the time.

The center? How about not allowing so much penetration straight up the field?

I understand the concept of angles and letting players take themselves out of the play so not a lot of blocking needed. This seemed to be penetration straight up the field which could have been disruptive.

The penetration he allowed is what made that play. He's moving to the left as soon as he snapped the ball as well as the RG and RT.

I don't see that being blown up. Looks called to me.

It looks like some passive resistance to sucker the nose up the field. Check out Owens first step, to the left. It is more of a slide step than it is firing off straight up the field type step.

Looks like he got just enough movement to the left to be out of the play. Any more penetration to the right would have been a problem. Maybe it was called but I never expect penetration up the middle is a good thing on a running play unless it is an outside run or you allow them to run around you away from where the ball is going. Either way it worked.

Think of it like those old “influence” plays that invite penetration to only be blindsided by a pulling guard or tackle, or in this case, the RG slamming down on you. Too good to be true, usually is.

Emil isn't paying a lick of attention to their left end firing at the nose from the snap. Watch Neal. They wanted the play to go that way as I see this...the shuffle step (to the left) mentioned just reaffirms that for me.
