I hope everyone realizes that since Kiffen started coaching at Alabama, the record is 34-3 with two of those losses coming in the first year.

He's won just as many titles as Nussmeir and less than Mac. A blind man calling plays can win 90% of their games under Saban.

The raw stats are impressive... Top 10 scoring offense is great... We also have the most talented players in the nation on offense. Top 10 offense with #1 talent should be expected.

Everyone (even those that don't want to admit it) was screaming at their TV's to run the football today. We came out of halftime and passed 6 times in a row it was almost unbelievable. Got bailed out by a hands to the helmet call, or Kiffin would headed for another as* chewing from Saban.

I was super impressed with Kiffin the 2 previous games. Not sure what happened today. Honestly, the D is so damn good it really doesn't matter. Throw in all that talent on offense and a QB who is really smart and makes great improvisations, it will take some serious injury issues or another game time Cooper Bateman QB decision to get beat before the playoffs.

Somewhat off topic but I'd love to see how many YPC the runs from under center are getting. I think it would be impressive. Could be a cure for future red zone deficiencies

The most receptions a TE had in Mac's tenure was 34. Howard has 22 on the year with at least five more games left on the schedule. Last season Howard had more receptions than any other TE in Mac's tenure.

As far as running the ball, I guess the days of doing something until they stop it, is over. As we speak, the barn is still rushing the ball against the razorbacks. This is why I would love to hear the assistant coaches speak on the game, just for the insight. Kiffin wants to be multiple and he's determined to throw and last night that meant the money zone. All night.

My son had the same gripe at the game yesterday. He asked why I liked Kiffin and when would he be gone. I told him to just look at what he had done with Blake Sims and Jake Coker and to comment on the second part; this may be his swan song here. I think an HC gig will be his next season.
While I don't always agree with the play calling, I want to say that Chavis used more blitzes inside the 10 than at any other spot on the field. This caused us problems and led to FG attempts.

We all have our likes and dislikes when it comes to coaching staff members. It is what it is, ya know? Largely based on perceptions. IE: You mention Smelley and I'm assuming his senior season (11.) There's no difference in how Howard did last year under Kiffin and how Smelley did in his fourth year under Mac.

My point is criticize all you like. But, for my sake, at least make it something to criticize. Lord knows I have no self-control when it comes to "hey, that ain't right" types of posts.

I mentioned something along these lines in the Chavis thread I posted last night. I can't think of a game where his red zone defenses didn't give Bama a problem. Much like I can't think of a game where his defenses tackled well.

Then you should use a different word. That way we know what you're saying.

3rd and Chavis have been around for decades. The bend but don't break approach. The stats don't always show when you decide to do what you do. Getting behind the chains on down and distance is the name of the game. Advantage defense. No perception, we gave the aggies that advantage too many times, especially in the red zone and we left a lot of points on the field in the first half because of it. We didn't bulk up, beef up or tough up near the goal line.

The three first-half field goal attempts came with more than 10 yards to gain for a first down or touchdown. So Alabama went backward in the red zone in those key moments.

Two steadily improving SEC opponents wait in November, though.
And small details have had big impacts against LSU and Auburn recently.

Late chiming in, but I recall all of our offenses having trouble scoring touchdowns and putting away Chavis defenses in the past. LSU was always a tough out with him at the helm - to the point where our defense has bailed us out and kept us in games. Kiffin frustrates me at times, but like that walk-through that Danielson did in the middle of the game yesterday, it's generally for a reason. Setting up that right side run over and over then catching Tennessee with their shorts down on a reverse to the left. They don't pay the man millions of dollars to be predictable offensively.

Overall I have no problem with CLK but do, at times, question some of his play calls. I think more than anything that is been raised with a coach and coaching myself. My on personal opinion is if a play is working, run it until they stop it, run or pass. Yesterday, the run was working well between the tackles. This is one of the reasons I enjoy this site, we can share an opinion or thought without being disagreeable.

Ridley has been wide the f*uck open so many times this year and we just miss him deep. I think Kiffin is trying to get that light to go on and get a more consistent down field pass and the best way to do that is to keep trying it. If we only pound the ball left and right, we also wear down out RBs... We need to have BOTH a competent passing game and a Powerful running game. I don't really have many issues with the way Kiffin has been calling games, more so with some of the execution of those passing plays. The one good thing is that Hurts doesn't seem to be "forcing" the deep ball. When he finally get's that touch down, the score board is going to light up even more!

i saw that as well. and common sense would suggest if he wasn't held, he makes at least one of those catches, if not both.
