YES!! YES!! YES!!

Finally, finally... got my ticket - Bama vs Georgia - Alabama side Sec H Row 38!!!

Very excited!! My first football game !!! And I don't think I'm giving away any secrets when I say it's going to be an experience like no other for me, especially since I'm from Canada and NOTHING like this (the fans, the game day hoopla, etc) ever happens in Canada for football games, college of pro. (We're kinda laid back up here).

I just have a couple of questions that maybe someone can answer, provide info for et el.

1. I'm looking for the cheapest place to stay (arrive Nov 17, leave 19) cuz... well... I would rather spend $$$ on Bama goods! :nana:

I found the Ole English Inn, 3100 University Blvd E. I figure it's just one bus ride away from B. Denny and it's cheap at $30 avg a night. But if anybody knows better... please let me know.


2. I am flying into Birmingham, and the cheapest transport to Tuscaloosa seems to be a Birmingham Door to Door
(205) 591-5550 http://www.birminghamdoortodoor.com/ at $100 each way. Is there a cheaper way to do this?? I'd take the Greyhound ($15) but it doesn't link with the airport.

Congrats on the tickets. Have you thought about renting a car? That may be more convenient.

Good to hear from you again. The Greyhound station in Birmingham is downtown, maybe 6 miles from the airport. Considering the difference between $100 each way and $15 I think you'd come out better catching a taxi at the airport and getting to Greyhound that way.

I won't insult a Canadian by saying dress for the cold. LOL. It can be pretty chilly by our standards in November, but seventies are not unheard of either.

Trust me, find somewhere else to stay other than the Ole English Inn.

It would be better for you to spend more on a room than to stay there, it is not the best place in town.

Ole English inn... how bad is it? After all, I lived in Tokyo for 9 years in an old Japanese dormitory (wooden sliding door), sharing two toilets, two portable showers, and a crappy kitchen with 20 people. Unless there is a chance I'll get robbed, shot, or both... I think I can take it. LOL.

Median Tuscaloosa temperature for November is 54 (12C), the lowest 42 (5c) .... Hah... T-shirt weather!!! Okay... maybe I'll bring a spring coat!

And yup... the taxi to greyhound station is a plan!! :td:
