šŸ“” Cam Robinson and Hootie Jones arrested

Anyone care to take a shot at the starting O-Line now, at least for the USC game... UGH! I was telling a buddy at church Sunday night, nothing good (Bama football related) happens this time of year. Nothing. So we wake up and hope to not read about Bama football in the news. Then, there we are on the MSN homepage. For a second time in a week or so. Two bad decisions overshadow so many good decisions our guys make. Really sucks.

This is going to sound ridiculous to some... But I don't think this will impact Cam Rob much at all. In fact, if may be good for him in the long run if he doesn't play this year.

No chance of injury if he doesn't play. The gun charge will be a big deal for a month or two, but by draft time next year, it will be a minor issue considering he's never been in any other trouble.

He's already proven he can be a dominant player in the SEC and has played through lots of injuries. Less milage on his knees/body could be a good thing to NFL GM's.

I'm a firm believer that guys like Cam Rob, Fournette, and other studs who've proven themselves should sit out their junior year. More to lose than gain. Ultimately 1 team wins a championship and that's a great accomplishment, but you're basically just a money maker for a university that you may or may not graduate from and most likely won't use the degree anyway... All the while risking serious injuries that could impact your draft prospects and long term health.

It makes more sense to sit out the year, train for combine stuff, hire a trustworthy management team and focus on investment strategies. JMO

If he plays, he will be a Top 10 pick. If he doesn't play, won't be within sight of the first round.
But he won't play because he needs to be cut.

I continue to be astounded at the sheer stupidity required to find oneself in such a situation. Their coaches have discussed things like this with the athletes ad nauseum. They have countless examples in the news of current and former athletes who have thrown their lives and careers away. And despite all the talking and all the examples of what not to do, they do it anyway. Ugh.

See Collins from LSU. He was questioned in a murder like 2-3 days before the draft and went from 1st round to NDFA. Dallas picked him up once he was cleared. Cam has made a terrible mistake that may cost him more than just a year.

BamaChris?!?

Disagree on that.. Doesn't need to play to be a first rounder with what he has on tape and his measurables. A good combine showing he'd be fine.

And what if he plays and tears his ACL?

He won't be a 1st rounder with a felony on his record! He will sit more than a year as well.

Whoever commits the crime of illegal carrying of weapons with any firearm used in the commission of a crime of violence as defined in R.S. 14:2(B), shall be fined not more than two thousand dollars, or imprisoned, with or without hard labor, for not less than one year nor more than two years, or both. Any sentence issued pursuant to the provisions of this Paragraph and any sentence issued pursuant to a violation of a crime of violence as defined in R.S. 14:2(B) shall be served consecutively

Can't argue on "what ifs". I can say that if he sits out a year, he will not see the first round. He may or may not get a combine invite. If he does, because of the lack of real reps in college football will diminish his abilities, he will not see the first round. If I'm a GM and I've got a choice between two seasons of tape and sitting out a year to evaluate and with another player, I've got three seasons of consistent play, consistency is the wiser investment.

But like I said, if the gun charge stays a felony, he won't play, so we'll see next Spring.

Some of you might know the answer to this, but how often do college coaches discuss to the players the implications of pissing away a golden opportunity at a free education and the possibility of making millions? Yet at the same time, character means very little in professional sports if you are talented. As bad as blow as this is to the 2016 season, imo, it will not reflect good on the University of Alabama if these two are allowed to remain on the team

If he's a first time offender then I'm sure his lawyer will find a way to get this minimized.

Combine/pro day... Personal workout... Same drills. He will do well in all of them, and more importantly be healthy for all of them.

If the case is the main reason he doesn't play this year, it could hurt him. But for those studs who don't have legal issues, sitting out the season makes more sense.
