SEC office sets the slate of SEC games. A team chooses which date they want to take off. South Carolina could have taken one of the early weeks off. But, it's much harder to schedule an OOC game in November than it is September.

I was wondering why Bama didn't schedule their bye week for the Saturday before they play LSU. That was what inspired my question, because the Bengal Tigers are off next week----the week before they play Bama.
