🏈 Bryce Young Wins 2021 Heisman Memorial Trophy

Putting the cart in front of the horse here, but has there ever been back to back Heisman and Natty's at the same school?

Oklahoma is the only school to have two players win the award in back-to-back years playing the same position (quarterbacks Baker Mayfield followed by Kyler Murray).

This is what I found out.

Bryce has 4322 passing yards. Mac had 4500 last year. Tua had 3966 in 2018.

Imagine what this could look like with an experienced offensive line.

Exactly what happens. Bryce, Stroud, Pickett, Hutchinson are the finalists.

The regional biases are a huge stick in the spokes of the Heisman (and most other things). The positive news is, Young will be able to vote for Anderson next year. eheh

Surprisingly (to me), many of the national blue checks are voicing their displeasure that Anderson isn't a top finalist.

I can't honestly see where he has deserved any. I never thought Stroud was great, but I'd pick him or Pickett over Hutchinson.

Another silver lining here is that this will actually help Will Anderson's chances next season. The outrage is far and wide, and it isn't just outrage from our fanbase like we'd normally see. He will be listed as one of the heavy favorites now going into 2022. If he stays healthy and has a similar year (and there's no skill player that puts up ridiculous numbers) he will have a legit shot at winning IMO. Some voters treat it as a career achievement award (which I hate), but that would help him too. Plus I'd imagine that since Bryce will have his already, you'd see a bit of a campaign from UA... having a defensive Heisman winner is a recruiting poster mic drop.
