What do yall think would have happened if McCoy holds on to that ball for one more breath and Cincy makes it to Pasadena to play Bama ? Does he still leave to go to Notre Dame and not coach in the NC game? No reporter that Ive seen has had the stones to ask. It really is a shame when all the players have all these rules to follow...and a coach can just up and leave his kids before the biggest game in the schools history to take another job....something about that just doesnt sit well with me....but thats me...I know its big business these days but I would like to see a rule put in place by the NCAA where schools couldnt shop for and hire coaches until after the bowl games. I know he wants to get started on recruiting ASAP but damn...:headscratch: seems like it Just boils down to $$$$$$$$$$

I still think he would have taken the job. I'm not sure how it all works, but I don't understand why he would at least coach them in the bowl game. I can't see him getting that big of a head start in the next few weeks being all the holidays that are coming up.

You think in 5 or less years we'll be hearing about ND being on the lookout for a new head coach? I think so...

I think the problem would then turn into the recruiting class being left in a shambles because kids would have less than a month to re choose their college of choice. i think the only way the NCAA would get involve with something like that, would be to have National Signing Day go later into the Spring( say March or April).

I really agree with you on this. It's just really stupid that he left ND before the game, now what are they going to do. Will the players be just hartbroken, or really ticked off at him now? Well what ever they are now, they might not play like they could if Kelly was still there.

Heck, they're already pissed at him. They've talked to three of them on ESPN and they seemed a little unhappy, and I understand why.

Funny thing about the original post. Colt holds on to the ball one more sec. and it all changes. Had Suh not been on McCoy as hard as he was that play, Colt would have let the clock run out. There's no doubt in my mind Texas would have lost! Crazy to think about, but...

It was a really stupid game, and Mack Brown probably took 10 years off his life when the clock struck zero. The refs saved the game, and I agree with their decision.

Cincy needs to realize where they fall in the pecking order of college football. They are a small-time program, and they will most likely fade back into obscurity. They have a bigger instate team that outrecruits them. This is not going to be the next Boise State, just like Buffalo last year was a 1 year thing.

Notre Dame is on their 4th hire since Holtz. How many hires did it take us before we got the right one? Stallings was a good one, but didn't stay long, and didn't have the energy to recruit at the pace that was needed to keep up with Spurrier and Fulmer. Taking out Stallings, and probably taking Price since he never coached an actual down, we are on our 6th hire right now, and seem to have gotten it right.

I'd say ND will give this guy 4 years, and if he gets them back, he'll be there 15. If not, they will be looking for #5 pretty soon.

I'm glad we are playing Texas and NOT Cincinnati or TCU. If we played TCU or Cincy, we wouldn't be able to win over the public. If we won the game....yeah we'd be national champs but people would be saying that we played a weak team...they'd all but dismiss our championship. If we lost, they'd say the same thing they were saying when Utah beat us last year......so really, playing Texas for the championship is the way to go.....until people's opinions of non-BCS teams change. Sad but true.

Anyway, back on topic of Brian Kelly and Notre Dame. I don't like the way coaches leave their teams before the bowl games either. Especially this one. Cincinnati is about to play in the biggest game in the program's history and the coach that got them there won't be there for it? That's a stupid move, Brian Kelly! Just think....if he'd have stayed and Cincinnati actually turned up and beat Florida in that game....Brian could use that as leverage to get more money out of Notre Dame....well, provided the Irish hadn't already hired another coach by then.

All in all though, despite the terrible timing, I really think he will be a good fit for Notre Dame. Should be more interesting times ahead for them than the Charlie Weis era.....that's for sure.

Kelly is sticking to his scripted speech when responding to any questions about the Cincy players...pretty smart..about the best thing he can do in his position...but id suspect there aint no free lunches for him in Cincy anymore....

Kelly is an a$$. You tell your players you're staying and then you bolt, I don't care how much money or how big of a "dream job" that is. I was raised that your word is the only thing people can't take from you, you're the only one that can take it away and Kelly did that. I wouldn't play for that a$$clown.

Would you play for Saban??

No, Franphony was an @$$! At least BK stood in the room and faced everyone of his players. It is what it is.

This is what I'm getting at.

There was no easy way to Kelley to take the job. Everyone knows the Big East is a weak conference. Everyone knows Cinci is a stepping stone job. No one works as hard as they can to turn down a pay raise/promotion. Face it, ND is still a good job. They can offer a lot of money, his assistant coaches will be taken care of and it will be a lot easier to recruit for than Cinci was.

Kelley did what most coaches do in his position. He took the better job.

You and I are on the same page.

It's like Colin Cowheard keeps saying on ESPN radio. Players bail all the time, why can't coaches? Coaches spend all that time, effort, and money from scholarships spent on these players that don't always live up to expectations, and then they leave EARLY for a BETTER JOB (the NFL). He made the right decision, and plus I don't think he ever actually lied...he just said he wouldn't talk about it. He even told his players "yea they talked to me". Unless I'm wrong...anyway, Kelly needs to start NOW. As for Cincy "Don't hire an ambitious guy if he's going to be sharp and ambitious".

However, on a flip side. His speech was VERY Dennis Franphony sounding, but that could be just how he gives speeches. I believe BK is the right guy for ND. However, I fully intend to keep wishing ND bites the dust, considering I can't stand their guts :). It has nothing to do with BK though :D

Would you play for Saban??

Yes, because Saban told the media one thing and then did another. I don't know if Saban told his players he wasn't leaving or not, but I do KNOW that BK told several players he was staying at Cinci. I'm just going by what I do know happened and if Saban told his players he wasn't leaving Miami then no I would not play for him either.

Speaking of that y'all notice how everybody is loving the BK hire, but he did the samething as Saban did as in he lied about the not going thing just Saban did, but when Saban left to come to Bama the media crucified him.
