| NEWS BREAKING NEWS: Greg Schiano returns as Rutgers coach after miraculous reversal

There was a time when 4 million a year was a lot of money. Schiano must be in pretty good shape in the ole checkbook. Hard to understand why anybody would offer a 8 year contract this day and time (even at Rutgers)
A group is wanting the AD fired, as @planomateo mentions there's meddling, Schiano brings his own baggage into this mess as well, and I still think there's more to the story than we're being told.

Is Rutgers the worse HC job in P5? And big 10 gifted them into conference...lol
The 2006 season is one I take note of when thinking about what one could do at Rutgers. A caveat of sorts, I think they're in the wrong conference and are better off served as a G5 team. Having a run like they had that season in the B1G? I have a hard time imagining that scenario. However, I do remember them being competitive in the Big East when both West Virginia and Louisville were having their runs. Louisville was thumping Kentucky back then while Rich Brooks was doing as good of a job as anyone could. As I recall, both Rutgers and 'ville knocked off Kansas State that season. d

It can be a solid football program with work, right? Much in the same sense we saw UCONN have a few strong years?

I know I mentioned it before but we can't forget that Rutgers launched Schiano to Tampa. That proves Rutgers can be a launching pad; and a good one.

So you think it can? Interesting...
If in AAC maybe..... more money in big 10 but more pounding too...
Maybe a 7-5...with weak OOC...someday...
But 4 mill a year...hell yeah.... be worth a shot

With respect Terry but I don't believe you're taking into consideration todays recruiting base in that area. Hell you're starting to see the cracks in Nick's evaluations and I am not talking talent. You use 2006 and we're into almost 2020 so you have to understand the change in society.

“The old lessons (work, self-discipline, sacrifice, teamwork, fighting to achieve) aren’t being taught by many people other than football coaches these days. The football coach has a captive audience and can teach these lessons because the communication lines between himself and his players are more wide open than between kids and parents. We better teach these lessons or else the country’s future population will be made up of a majority of crooks, drug addicts, or people on relief.”...…….Coach Bryant

I'll take the job for $1.5 million a year as long as I can use the remaining $6.5 to hire assistants.

Probably couldn’t get the assistants to agree to come to Rutgers! Coaching graveyard!!! Schiano is the only guy I know of that had any success and parlayed it into a better gig. Others have fallen into the black hole, never to be seen again.

I was hoping you would be one of my assistants. LOL ;)
