🏀 Bracketology 2020-21 season.- Selection Sunday (Bama to face Iona)

KenPom projections: roughly a 10% chance of winning out the season. A little difference in the projected final scores (Bama down a couple of points on their totals.)

59% @arkansas (79-77)
60% @Missouri (77-74)
71% @Mississippi St. (75-69)
76% LSU (85-77)
78% @South Carolina (83-74)
81% Auburn (83-73)
86% @Texas A&M (74-62)
92% Georgia (86-71)
95% Vanderbilt (86-68)

As I look at those numbers I'm not quite as optimistic on those first two road games and the barn game. Tomorrow night is a big game LSU had TT beat Saturday and choked it away late. Hopefully in the friendly confines of CC we can get back to some winning ways.

Sixth in the ACC, a 7-6 overall record, and Duke is a #10 seed?

It's the same as when we all had the...pleasure of hearing Vitale call our game last week. The ESPN talking heads are going slobber over the blue bloods because they've earned the accolades, no matter how average they might be. Kind of like thinking the Heisman is a career award, which is one big reason why Sunshine fared so well in the voting this year.

IF Duke gets an early slot v. a little 10 or 12 team, Coach K will get another nice reminder of what one and done is.

It is interesting to be on the other side if this in Basketball. Sustained excellence has its perks. Yes it is annoying but the Basketball program can fix it by earning it over several decades. Just the way it is. Sustained excellence, Bama of all fan bases understand this based on our football program.

Football at Bama isn't treated the same way as basketball and in this case, Duke. Here's a prime example.

I was listening to Packer and Durham Monday morning following the Duke win over Clemson Sunday. They're ACC guys so it stands to reason they'd hold the water for the conference but their reasoning was suspect when I heard their opinions. As they were looking at back to back wins for the Blue Devils (GT and CU) they stated "Duke has found their way." It's my suspicion Katz falls into the same line of thinking.

Here's the difference. A few wins and "Duke has found their way." One loss in football and it's "Bama has lost their edge."

(I don't know if it's just a coincidence. It may be. I find it quite interesting that several of these "blue bloods" that are struggling this season are also part of the current FBI/NCAA investigations; Auburn, Duke, et. al.)

The response is certainly different. Ok I am sure you did not mean to include the Barn in the blue blood category but only the FBI/NCAA category correct? Those two do not go together in anything.

93 brackets being tracked right now with BracketMatrix. A little less than 20 have Bama as a three seed, one has Bama as a #4 seed, and the rest (70+) have the Tide as a #1 or #2 seed. They are currently ranked as the #6 team in their rankings.

Bama has jumped one place in the NET: #9 to #8.

KenPom has Bama at #7 and only a hair behind Houston (as mentioned they lost last night.)

Still think #1/#2 seed is premature but would love to be wrong. IF they get the shooting stroke back sure but if not that seems to high. I still see them as a 4/5 seed but what do I know? That is just based on my perception of who I see them being and my historical bias from the last 20 years. I guess seeding should be more about how they compare to other teams which I have not really done. Not to sure how most of these other teams compare.

Hard for me to wrap my brain around us being a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Not because of our team, but just the last number of years of being on the cusp only to falter. Also hard when you consider the blue bloods, but they are all down this year that opens the door. AND of course this is a year we can't attend and support our team!

Looking at the NET numbers if you combine Q1/Q2 wins we have 10 no other team has more than 9 and there is only one team with that number.
So if you look at the data this team is worthy of it's rating/ranking.

Interesting I thought it would take a win in Columbia tomorrow to get there. So far this team has dealt with the target on their backs hope tomorrow is no different.

Maybe I am missing something but I do not see a #1 seed. I have enjoyed this team and think they are a good team but I have a perception of a #1 seed that I guess is skewed and biased.
