Saw this question posted somewhere else, but I don't know any of the posters over there, so I don't know who to listen to.

Where is BJ? Why isn't he playing? Did he even get into the N. Tex game? Will he play this year?

One guy said that he didn't think he would ever play a meaningful down at UA, is that a possibility? Terry? Porkchop?

He was on the sidelines for the N. Texas game and actually ended up on camera quite a bit (he is #1). FWIW everything that I have read has indicated that he is having a little trouble learning the defense since being moved over but it isnt something to be overly alarmed about since it is learning not only a new position but one of great importance in Saban's complex defense.

There have been rumors that appear to hold some water now that he will be redshirted this year and come back as a red shirt sophomore next year. I would guess the "one guy" you heard from is allowing his opinion to over ride logic as BJ has all the potential physically but is just learning the scheme a little slower than some would have expected.

I was sent a link from another site with a member stating that. I'm familiar with the guy, but can say this.

He's clueless.

B.J. is in the position to 'shirt this year, and is likely to do so...now, if we suddenly had a string of injuries hit our secondary, he'd play.

He is perhaps the most physically gifted player we have in our secondary, but is dealing with the learning curve of learning our secondary.

IF it was just "go cover that guy" he'd be on the field every down. But, our defense is far, far more complicated.

Thanks, Terry, that sounds much more reasonable to me. I know he is very talented, that's why I'm hopeful to see him, but I also want him to have the right mindset in order to put his abilities to the best use. I can imagine that he will be a ball hawk when he does get in there. Do you think he'll ever work out at punt/kick returner after Javy is gone?

I don't know if he will or not.

We've got speed to burn at a lot of positions...so, we probably could take one of a dozen players and put them back there and have success.

I look at a guy like Demarcus Milliner and really like the idea of him returning kicks next season.

You could say "I like the looks of ______ _____ running back kicks next year" and put a lot of names in there.

Scott, Maze, Bell, Milliner, Grant (Cory) all come to mind. Kirkpatrick could probably do well there too.

Grant would be my second choice.

There's really no way to tell right now. We'll have some guys getting looks in the spring, and unless one or two really stand out I'd imagine we'll have more getting looks in the fall.

I agree and think plenty have the talent, just wonder if any of them can match Javier's passion for the job.

Ok, I'll bite. Are you differentiating between kick-offs and punt returns? Speed is usually the best for kick-offs, but for punt returns I'll go with the 5th of 6th fastest if they are the clear 1st in terms of "shiftiness" and "elusiveness". From what I saw from his high school tapes, he has that by the bucketful. I'll admit, I haven't seen much of Milliner.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>

What I love about this situation with Scott is today like some years back a great recruit can show up and get buried in the depth chart and have time to develop. In the recent past when a great recruit showed up he was made a starter in 1st game. Maybe really only have the skill to be good player at this level. But get stuck there because of Bama’s need. Now recruits can have time to develop in the best position for them to compete at this level and the next. Ok, I can see Milliner on Kick-off for his speed. I still could see BJ as a punt returner for his ability to change direction.
