🏈 Birmingham Iron suffers 1st loss to the San Antonio Commanders 12-11.

AJ carried his signed deal to Oakland with him.....I believe AJ will get one more contract to be a backup in the NFL. He has made great money.

A.J. McCarron signed a 2 year, $10,000,000 contract with the Buffalo Bills, including a $4,000,000 signing bonus, $7,900,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $5,000,000. In 2019, McCarron will earn a base salary of $3,000,000, a roster bonus of $1,900,000 and a workout bonus of $100,000, while carrying a cap hit of $5,000,000.

We'll see. I doubt that 85K looks appealing to him.

@BamaBoyJosh perspective makes us take into account what he made on his last NFL contract. As I recall, it was a guarantee of just under nine million to sign plus the year(?) he played in Denver. I'm sure we can chalk that year up to the 10 million plus side.

I've yet to see any reports on how much ESPN is paying him now. All I've seen is "multi-year" contract.

It would be all about getting himself more game tape. Nothing says he can't go to the AAF play for one season, get some more plays on tape, and maybe position himself to get a deal with a team to compete for a starting job somewhere come fall?

He's definitely in the high six figures I would imagine (at ESPN).

There's no doubt about that. The one thing I don't have a figure on is what he gets paid. per appearance, Sunday through Friday. The last number I was told was just under 500K for Saturday's (flat fee, per appearance, per weekend.)

He's certainly not making Suzy Kolber money: very few are.

So, we're through three weeks of games and I've yet to see one.

I do like the idea of having another football league/season to follow. But, when it takes away from watching the Tide play baseball or softball...it's going to remain that way; unseen.

Looks like B'ham and Spurrier's bunch in Orlando are the early season best. I would have to say our goal line defense is bad to the bone. And thank goodness we didn't get saddled with some of the team colors I've seen in the league, like Atlanta.

The Iron defense has been tested from the get go in every game so far this year. Those guys have found ways to prevent the game from getting away from them early. The Legends were going up and down the field in the 1st Qtr however they had one FG for all their stats.

Dominated them in the second half, too. Def. have to give Lewis credit for his second half adjustments. Richardson is an absolute mad man on the goal line. The offensive line has got to improve or else this team is going to lose some games due to that (and the receivers inability to gain separation or hang on to the dang ball). Orlando and Arizona are going to put points on you, they just are. Offense needs a ton of work, especially as more and more teams begin to just pin their ears back since the o-line cant seem to slow anyone up.
