Brought over from the read only forum for comments. Don't know about you guys, but I am inclined to remember the ones Bama didn't win. In addition to the ones mentioned in the article, here are 10 big ones they didn't see fit to include.
1953 --- Bama 19 - Southern Mississippi 25
The record book says Southern Mississippi, but back then it was Mississippi Southern COLLEGE, and not Southern Mississippi University. Bama was preseason ranked #1 coming off the 61-6 demolition of Syracuse in the 1953 Orange Bowl, which was the day yours truly became a Bama fan. Had been a Bama "lean' for a long time (think Harry Gilmer and you get the picture) but the Orange Bowl clinched it for me.
1954 --- Bama 2 - Southern Mississippi 7
There is that Mississippi Southern COLLEGE again! Bama would go on to win the next 4 games, last of which was a 27-0 skunking of ut in knoxville. Would not win another game for 2 years. Sad times for yours truly.
1957 --- Bama 0 - LSU 28
Was in the hospital with Asiatic Flu and listened by radio as Billy Cannon ran for 4 TD's, all over 50 yards each.
1958 --- Bama 3 - LSU 13
That same Billy Cannon and LSU would go on to win the NC, but at the end of the 3rd quarter they were down 3-0 to Bama and their new coach. What a difference! Knew that happy times were ahead for yours truly.
1965 --- Bama 17 - UGA 18
Famous, or should I say infamous, 'flea flicker" game. Winning score would be called back today with instant replay review. Only game Bama would lose on the way to the NC.
1967 --- Bama 37 - FSU 37
Didn't lose, but it felt like it with FSU exactly matching in one game the TOTAL 37 points given up in the regular season by the 1966 team.
1975 --- Bama 7 - Missouri 20
Again the only game Bama would lose that season.
1976 --- Bama 7-10 Mississippi
Don't remember much about this game, but anytime Ole Miss beats Bama it is big. For them!
1990 --- Bama 24 - Southern Mississippi 27
Now it is Southern Mississippi UNIVERSITY! Bret Favre would check out of the hospital on Wednesday before the game. Bama would look like they were playing the first game in the history of the school instead of playing in Coach Stallings' first game.
2000 --- Bama 24 -UCLA 35
What a disapointment! Preseason ranked #3. Some of you saw the train wreck coming long before they fired up the engine. Yours truly didn't.
