🏀 🏀 #4 Alabama vs. Georgia 🏀 - Five Score in Double Figures to Lead Alabama Past Georgia, 90-69

Unfortunately it's been a thing that has always plagued Oats' teams. He demands such a fast-paced style that is usually getting a shot off within the first five seconds. The one thing I'd wish he'd tweak is limiting the amount of dribbling for the non-primary ball handlers. Unless you're Sears, Philon, or Holloway, do your best to not put the ball on the floor and do your best to create space/screen. The freedom would come with the opportunities of an open shot or cuts to the basket + shot at the rim.

But of course it's also hard to complain about an offense that is annually ranked #1 in pace and scoring
Problem is Sears is one of the main guys with ball handling issues.

Well, @TerryP I hit my $200 o. Us Over 87.5. I was getting pissed off when we went like five minutes with no baskets in the 1st. Boys caMe through though. Roll Tide.
Nice.

One thing I noticed last night. Bama had 26 with three/four minutes left and then rolled out 51 in the second. I thought that was pretty dominant until seeing OU and Baylor drop 60, respectively, on their opponents.

The offense we saw yesterday ... geez, UArk dropping that on UK?

A couple of them (sears included) go 100 mph when often times 85 mph will do. But they get going so fast, that it causes them to force things too quick... some of the steals and errant passes are just beyond frustrating.
And I don't have ANY issues with that happening! It's been said before, guys like Sears move so quickly they are, at times, ahead of their teammates. I don't like the turnovers but find it easy to balance that against the production.

Mark Sears led five Crimson Tide players in double digits with 20 points in the win

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –
The No. 4/4 Alabama Men's Basketball team extended its winning streak to five straight with a convincing 90-69 over Georgia in front of a soldout crowd inside Coleman Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.

Mark Sears collected his 13th game of 20 or more points this season, as he led the The Crimson Tide (19-3, 8-1 SEC) with a game high 20 points to go along with six assists and five boards. Grant Nelson secured his team-leading sixth double-double in the win, finishing with 16 points, 10 rebounds and a career high five blocks. Aiden Sherrell (12), Aden Holloway (10) and Chris Youngblood (10) also scored in double figures in the victory.

Georgia (15-7, 3-6 SEC) was led by Asa Newell, who scored 16 points on 6-of-15 shooting, to go along with seven rebounds.

Head Coach

"Unbelievable effort from our guys, really the effort we've been looking for outside of the start to the second half. You take that four minutes out, which I wasn't really happy with that effort, but the other 36 minutes, I thought we played really hard. Outrebounded a really good team by 16 and still scored 20 even though we had 20 turnovers. Now, we've got to fix the turnovers. Obviously, it's a major problem, and 12 of those 20 were from three of our fifth-year seniors, which shouldn't be the case, but I thought those guys kind of set the tone.

I thought that was the hardest Mark Sears has played. He had some turnovers but he sprinted back and made tough plays on defense. He didn't sulk, didn't pout. His leadership and the effort he gave tonight really helped set the tone for how the team is supposed to look.

So, if we can take that mentality and that effort on the defensive end and clean up the offense, we've got something ahead in the right direction going in the second half of conference play."

When did you move from hatin' on Grant to hatin' on Mark? 🙃
I do not recall hating on either of them. Seriously when have I said anything negative about either? This is probably the first negative comment I recall making about Sears. Maybe I have but I do not recall doing it.

For this team to get to where they want to go they need to cut down on turnovers, I assume you agree with that? 10-12 turnovers ok that is going to happen in this system. 20+ is going to get you beat against the type teams they are going to face going forward.

I am high on this team and their ceiling. Three areas to improve - FT shooting, high level D and turnovers.

I wasn't being serious. I do remember you saying something about his impact last year...early on in the season. I didn't make anything of it...

I won't lie, I felt good about three games yesterday, Alabama, Kansas, and Duke. Can't get over what Kansas allowed to happen, but Alabama and Duke wore folks out.

American had DB's from Tulane and Wisconsin on the field at the same time yesterday. A few kids from Maryland and Notre Dame.
Yeah. Well. Was fun when it was "north vs south ". Good players at every position in all partsof country. Even remember..."north" had a recevier get sick or hurt in practice day before game... they got a local Bama player to come join squad.. north squad......
Had Bama players on north n south squad that year... mid 60s??????
I
North-South....just gave you someone to pull for....yee-haw
