šŸ€ šŸ€ 2025-26 Bama Basketball Updates: Roberts recuses himself: Judge Daniel Pruet has a decision on his hands

Aside from the Bediako fiasco, this team needs to regroup and see some better leadership. The defense has been downright abysmal. We remember the Gottfried days of them not playing a lick of defense. It is starting to mirror that.

Oats needs better sub patterns too in critical situations. It killed us against Arizona, Gonzaga, and then against TN. Believe we were at the 2 minute mark against TN and Oats has Noah Williamson and Jemison in. I just don't get it. Both CAN score, but they're not very reliable. Noah is also not physical enough for bigger teams like TN.

It's basketball - teams go through rough periods. I have no doubt things will turn around. But aside from the lower turnover rate, this team has the exact identity of one that doesn't make it to the second weekend in the NCAAT.

In spite of knowing defense hasn't been a priority and knowing this team isn't built around defensive priniciples it's still a priority to critique how defense should be prioritized on a team that isn't built upon defensive ...

Oats talks out of both sides of his mouth and even that has to be taken in context. Notice what he said today about Bethea:

ā€œHe’s a talented scorer. Needs to stay locked in on the defensive end…on offense he’s gotta take care of the ball. I’d be happier if he didn’t turn down open shots.ā€

Translated. If he took good shots "locked I on the defensive end" wouldn't be mentioned. I don't feel that's an opinion. It's something we've observed.

In my view, in the losses we see? They have two of three things in common and two of them are offense. But again, this is just like defense. We know this.

This is one of those mornings I hate myself for thinking.

If you happen to recall, last night Missouri found its way to Tuscaloosa to play a basketball game. At the same time, a team from Austin, TX found its way to the SE to play at Auburn. Cal made their way to Tallahassee. IU Indy made it to PA to play against Robert Morris. Bucknell flew to Louisiana to play Lafayette.

But the NCAA couldn't make it to Tuscaloosa because of the weather.

Here's a copy of the bio of the new judge:

If he's looking at being lottery pick, or even close, I think he absolutely goes. No question. And I'll admit right up front, NBA draft stuff is out of my wheelhouse, especially a case like this. I pay little to no attention to mock drafts in any of the major sports but especially the NBA, so I don.t know how well they translate this far out to draft day accuracy. I assume Philon is showing up in many of them though based on the reaction and comments of Bama fans this season (and I am aware there was at least a plan in place for a 1 and done season if things went well). Personally, I'm a bit more tentative to call it a lock though just based off some of the inconsistencies in his game right now. Then again, I didn't see a guy like Primo getting snatched up the way he did at this point in the season/process either. I guess my point is, maybe it's silly, but I have some glimmer of hope that he returns. And if he does, much like Sears coming back (yes, different situation), we can probably thank the NIL rules.
Looking at this thread much later. What little I heard was that Philon projected late first or early second round before the 2025 NBA draft. He was told what things he needed to work on to improve his draft standing. These were, specifically, his perimeter game and free throw shooting. With 20/20 hindsight he made a great decision to return, and he has improved significantly in the two areas that were mentioned. He does look like a lottery pick now, and more of a finished product.

JD Davidson should have followed the same path.
