Keeping with the idea that surprises can (and usually will) happen when the committee dishes out the regional pairings after the conference tournaments... as of now, a series win in Gainesville secures Bama a top 16 hosting spot. If Bama goes 1-2, they are less safe, but still probably on at least the right side of the bubble, but to be safe, would need to make a little noise in Hoover. If Bama gets swept, that would be very, very bad (obviously).

The last time these 2 teams met was also in Gainesville in '23.... Bama won the Sunday game to avoid the sweep, but should have won the Saturday game. They let it slip away. It was actually Riley Quick on the mound in relief who blew it the save and took the loss in the 9th, but if memory serves, Bama had several missed opportunities that game to put Florida away that afternoon. Regardless, I'd imagine this time around, Quick will want his pound of (gator) flesh.

Down 7-6. So many blown leads this season with a 4-5 run lead. Such garbage ass coaching and pitching.

Bama should have gone into the 6th up 5-1... if so, it's almost certainly a different type of game right now. But the lack of consistency and development from so many arms (yet again) this year is beyond concerning. Still 3 outs to find something, with the right guys coming up... but this team's innate ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory is really something else.

Our team captain takes his time getting the ball in and allows a "hustle double". This is the kinda stuff this team does, the little things.... at the plate, on the bases, in the field, on the mound, that won't show up in the scorebook, but kills their chances at success at success.

They did turn a sweet DP right after I typed that... so credit to them for that.
