The winds giveth and taketh away. The winds were Bama's friend last weekend against auburn. Evidenced by a Luke Vaughn double that landed about 6 feet in front of home plate.
Somewhere on this site I mentioned the web site project three straight and the guy who is running it right now; Collin Wilson. His is the first site I've noticed that listed active wind speeds at parks. While I don't bet baseball I've heard from those that do, "pay attention to the wind." Uh, yeah.

His live scoreboard isn't as good as Nolan's. He's recently ran a data dump to get his football pages in order.

That URL tells me it's going to be "onepage/alabama..." soon. You can use the drop down to look at the early stages of Bama's stuff.

On the wind stuff, there’s an app called Windy that I use when I want to check ballpark weather/wind. It’s pretty good.

Bama wins, 3-2! Another SEC series win for the Tide, their 3rd in a row and 1st on the road this season. The UA bats haven't been very active since early in game 1 of this series in Norman, but they did just enough this afternoon. Bama got 3 in the first, thanks in part to a Sooner fielding error. That gave UA starter Myles Upchurch a little cushion to work with.... and while Upchurch wasn't real efficient (he only lasted 3 innings, partly due to some control issues), he only gave up 1 run. The bullpen, once again, did an excellent job of limiting the damage the rest of the way. Crowther went 3 2/3, giving up just 1 run himself. Heiberger relieved him in the 7th, coming in to protect a 3-2 UA lead. He did just that, getting out of the 7th with a K, and then pitched the 8th. Banks took the ball in the 9th and got the clean save. Bama never really got things going offensively, but those 3 runs in the 1st turned out to be just enough. Fowler had the best day at the plate, with the only multi hit effort. He went 2-5 with a run scored, raising his average to .361 on the season. All in all, wasn't always pretty, but like I say over and over again... a series win, especially on the road, in this league, is always a big! The Tide is now 8-4 in the league.

Up next for Alabama: A midweek game against Samford and then 3 games at home against Arkansas over the weekend.

Literally had something similar happen to me as a sophomore in HS. End of March and it’s freaking cold as Hell! 35 degrees, spitting snow and wind is howling! I’m playing first and the batter hits one almost straight up the shoot toward the first base line. I immediately call it. As the wind takes a hold of the ball, I take off in a dead sprint. The ball literally lands behind the 3rd base dugout. Foul ball! No big deal right? It was for my coach, who proceeded to chew my ass out for calling for it! I fired back though. “What the Hell difference did it make Coach? The damn ball hit in the parking lot behind the dugout!!” Next day, Jefferson County had roughly 10-12” of snow on the ground for April Fools Day!

I remember that day. Nearly went to jail as I was speeding down hwy 78 at a whopping 35 to 40 mph in 55 zone, heading to work. Cop pulled us over, said I was going too fast in dangerous conditions. Said there was a car on it's roof just over the next rise.My buddy, who was riding with me, and I turned around , went back to his FIL store, called in to work and told boss we were going to be an hour or so late.
