No. 11 Alabama baseball returns to action on Tuesday, April 14, for a midweek contest against UAB at Regions Field. The Crimson Tide is 6-4 in its last 10 contests with the Blazers at UAB, including a 6-3 victory a season ago.

Alabama beats UAB 12-6...

The bats were alive in B'ham tonight for Bama... Led by Brady Neal (4-5 with 3 doubles) and Brock Purdy (2-4 with a HR, triple, and 5 RBI), Alabama scored 12 runs in all on 10 hits. The downside was the defense... UA committed 6 errors, most of which were costly and led to unearned runs. In all, 4 of UAB's 6 runs were unearned. Bottom line, it was nice to see the offense have a good night, they needed it. But the defensive issues that appeared to be cleared up a couple weeks ago, reared their ugly head and then some. At this point, I'm at a loss for words at how poorly this team plays defense. But, the bats saved them, at least for tonight.

Next up, 3 games in Austin, TX this weekend against the #4 Longhorns. UA better bring those hot bats, hope their starting pitching stays on track, and pray to the good Lord that they have a clean weekend defensively in the field.
