I'm not giving up hope on them by any means, they've just frustrated me a bit to begin this season. Knowing that even playing their best, they are going to likely end up mid level in the SEC this season, they just can't afford to bring their C games every single time. Do that, and they'll absolutely miss the postseason. I really like some of the younger guys, but I think most are a year away from really being able to consistently help. And the vets and transfers (for the most part) have been stuck in the mud up to this point. They really a few of those guys, like Osterhouse for example, to get going.
On the pitching end, as it stands right now, I'm a bit concerned with what I've seen from Fay up to this point. I'm hopeful that he's just adjusting to the role and as things move along and the weather and arm warm up, he will settle in. Adams has the stuff, but he's got to overcome the inconsistency issues that plagued him last season. So far, he's thrown fairly well, but this weekend and that opening Kentucky series may tell us a lot more. I will say his command looks better. Upchurch is going to be a stud in time, and pitching well now, but he's going to have his rough moments as a freshman in the SEC. Hopefully Fay can figure it out and settle in though... gonna need quality starts from him and Adams as much as possible, especially from Fay on Friday nights.
