Alabama (29-14, 10-9) takes game 1, 12-8!

Looks like Bama may have packed the bats for the road trip? I hate to jinx anything going forward, but they at least swung them well tonight. Good thing too, since Fay was a little off and the pen is still a bit shaky. As for Fay, he still gutted 5 innings, giving up just 4 runs after a rough 1st inning. To his credit, he rebounded and kept Bama in the game. But the story of this one was the Bama bats... we haven't seen it much this season, certainly not lately, but The Tide made the most of their chances in this one, especially early on, scoring in the first 4 innings and 6 of the 9 innings as a whole. Vol pitchers hit 6 UA batters, which only added fuel to the hot bats. Fowler led the way with 3 doubles out of the cleanup spot and Eric Hines had the big hit, a monster 3 run HR to left to break the game open in the 6th. Mitchell, Heiberger, abd Banks finished things out on the mound for Bama.

Worth noting, 2 UA starters left the game and didn't return... Osterhouse hurt himself warning up in the on deck circle (yes, you read that right), appearing to tweak his hamstring or groin? Additionally, Luke Vaughn was hit by a pitch in the helmet and left the game to be put in concussion protocol.

They will play a DH tomorrow to wrap up the series... and Heiberger and Banks should both be available...
