PEAR ratings has been tracking a stat called "Kill Shots." It's similar to Torvick's in basketball.

After the mid-week games where were six teams who were over .500 when receiving a "kill shot." It's defined as one team scoring two or more runs and the opponent is left scoreless.

3-0 kill shot took Bama today. Yesterday it was in the eighth; TX 2-0.

Bama wins, 2-1! I hate to say Bama had to win that game, they didn't, but it sure was a big one to win... salvage the series and get a win on the road against Texas... I'll take it. Once again, the theme of the weekend, UA's starting pitching was superb. Upchurch was fantastic... 5 1/3, 0 runs, just 1 hit, 4 K's and 3 walks. This time, the pen held up, Ashton Crowther specifically, who went the final 3 2/3... he gave up a run in a shaky 9th inning, but eventually got it nailed down. Unfortunately, the offense, yet again, was stuck in the mud. I don't know what the UA record is (was?) for strikeouts in an SEC series, but they had to be close to breaking it, if they didn't. But, a win is a win. take it, move on, get better (hopefully).

Bama is back to .500 in league play at 9-9. 28-13 overall.

Bama's first win over Texas in a LONG time...

Up next for The Tide... midweek game on Tuesday night vs. UAB and then on the road for a weekend series at Tennessee...

Was thinking earlier.... as bad as the hitting has been in SEC play, the starting pitching has been polar opposite good. Makes sense that they are sitting at .500 given that. Throw in the poor defense and not as good relief pitching, and it looks even better. But they've got to pick it up on the offensive end... can't ask the starting 3 to keep putting up these numbers the rest of the way...
