🏈 Barry Sanders Jr.?

Is anyone else as shocked about his lack of production his entire career? I can remember hoping extremely hard that Saban would pull him in back in '12 and that Sanders was VERY close to coming and even thinking about transferring to Alabama when he decided to go home to OK State. He returned his first punt return at OK State for 57 yards and then proceeded to do nothing else... got even less touches then he did any season at Stanford. Its nuts.

2012: REDSHIRT
2013: 5 carries, 42 yards, 1 TD; 4 catches, 31 yards; 7 PR, 71 yards(STANFORD)
2014: 59 carries, 315 yards, 0 TD; 7 catches, 47 yards (STANFORD)
2015: 51 carries, 315 yards, 4 TD; 1 catch, 11 yards; 2 PR, 24 yards; 2 KOR, 17 yards (STANFORD)
2016: 26 carries, 82 yards, 2 TD; 9 catches, 45 yards; 18 KOR, 430 yards; 7 PR, 88 yards (OK STATE)

Never expected him to be a bust like that and the crazy thing is everytime I actually saw him get a touch he would usually make some kinda ridiculous play juking three or four defenders.

What happen to him? Also transfer to OK St without sitting out?

See Chris Carter's boy, Duron.

Those two aren't even comparable. You have one kid that actually PLAYED (whether it be not much or not) and was a 4.0 student in two different colleges and never got into trouble... and one that couldn't get his grades right, couldnt stay out of trouble and played some ONE season. Duron's problems were off the field without question.

Sometimes, "cant miss prospects" miss. Sometimes "marginal talent" turns into a great player. All I know is if you are the head coach, you had better have more blossom than bust or you will be looking for a job.

Unfortunately for Junior, the norm is that the son seldom lives up to the sports exploits of the Dad. And even more rare is the double whammy, a 2-son achievement award. The only one I can come up with is Archie Manning's boys.

You have to appreciate Barry's perspective. He's got the right attitude and the skillset to be successful in the NFL. Perhaps the fans expectations are wrong :) We've all heard Saban talk about expectations and the pressure it puts on these kids.

"The expectations are always to do whatever I'm asked to do and whatever I need to do for the team's success," Sanders said. "Just coming in, that was my mindset -- whatever the coaches' decisions were, I'm behind them 100 percent. My goals are to do what I'm asked to do."

Take Dieter as an example, looking at the numbers he had last year did he live up to expectations? As @TerryP suggested on here a while ago, Dieter's goals were to improve other areas of his game to help him in the NFL.

Jr. will probably get invited to the combine regardless and his speed/lateral movement will at least get him a shot to be a return man somewhere. If that doesn't work the CFL and Arena Football are always options *shrug*

And he's got a Stanford education to fall back on.

Got a better chance of seeing this.
