🏈 Bama will clinch the SEC West if they beat LSU

A Bama win would give them a 6-0 record in the SEC and LSU would have two losses. Even if Bama lost to Texas A&M and Auburn, they would finish 6-2 and they would own the tiebreaker over LSU---a win head-to-head.

Surprised I haven't heard one person mention this.

I don't think you'd have to worry about Auburn spoiling your season regardless of tonight.

Yea but I'm not sure if the media is ready to give yet another NC to a one loss SEC team if the others remaing undefeated. I mean the SECCG has to mean something and you would think a SEC champ even with one loss would trump an undefeated ND as they don't have a conf champ game but the media is tired of the SEC and Bama. Who knows what the voters would try and do. This is part of why I think they ranked UF so high early on to help eliminate another SEC team from playing in the NCG as they knew Florida was overrated and would lose at some point in the season.

we don't need to worry about anything so long as we win out and take care of business. Two losses would kill any and all hope of playing in the NCG.

The LSU radio play-by-play guy, Jim Hawthorne, said earlier today that "Alabama has not face a defense as strong as LSU's."
Well, LSU has not face a defense as strong as Alabama's. Heck, they've struggled all year against those "weaker" defenses and I expect them to struggle tonight. Everybody down her in LA are predicting a narrow LSU victory. Of course, they are. I hope it's not close. I hope Alabama blows them out of Tiger Stadium.

If Bama wins tonight, they will very likely finish the season 12-0. I don't see how Bama could lose at home to A & M or Auburn if they can beat LSU at Tiger Stadium. My point was just that Bama could wrap up the West tonight.

i understand what your point was ;). Men was just that I want another NC and to do that we have to remain undefeated in almost all cases. :icon_cheers:

I just don't want to even think of a loss at this point lol

Looks like I was wrong. Texas A & M has two losses, and they haven't played Bama yet. If they beat Bama next week, and Bama and the Aggies finished 6-2 (which would mean Auburn beating Alabama---very unlikely), then the Aggies would win the West.

But if Bama beats the Aggies next week, they WILL win the West with that victory.

AKA we clinched the West. Funny you mention this because I didn't realize it til you mentioned it...just glad we won't be playing Florida FOR ONCE!

You know the only thing that bothers me is Bama being mentally and emotionally able to get their selves up for tam after this game tonight with LSU. I know we have the talent to win, but i also know we are mentally drained from this game against LSU. After this tam game we will get a well deserved rest to lick our wounds and rest up emotionally.

Al - I'm right there with ya. It's going to be a tough one Saturday. Mainly because of the emotional high that our players and coaches had for LSU, and then also TAM is playing some pretty darn good football right now. They mopped Mississippi State pretty easily yesterday.

Just for clarification, IF the unforeseen happens and Bama did lose to aTm and the Barn, that does not mean aTm wins the west. If LSU beats Arkansas, which is very likely, Bama, aTm, and LSU will all be 6-2. Head to head is the first tiebreaker with aTm beating Bama, Bama beating LSU, and LSU beating aTm. Next tie breaker is record versus the SEC West. With LSU and aTm having loses against Florida from the East and being 4-1 against the west, where Bama would be 3-2 against the west, that knocks Bama out. LSU by virtue of their head-to-head win over aTm now becomes the champion. So Bama losing to aTm and the barn probably gives it to LSU, not aTm.
