With State coming into town this week with a player on many folks' Heisman list at this point in the season, I thought I'd look back at how we've fared against players who ended up being Heisman finalists during the past 7.5 years under CNS. Due to being in the SEC and being a contender most every year, we've had the chance to compete against more than our fair share of Heisman candidates... Here's a quick recap of how we did.
2007 finalist vs Bama - McFadden. 195 yards rushing and 2 TD's at BDS. Bama win.
2008 finalist vs Bama - Tebow. 200+ yds passing, 3 TD's, 57 yds rushing at neutral site. Bama loss.
2009 finalist vs Bama - Tebow. 250 yds passing, 1 TD, 63 yds rushing at neutral site. Bama win.
2009 finalist vs Bama - McCoy. 9 yds passing, 1 KTFO... Knocked the.... :blackeye: Neutral site. Bama win.
2010 finalist vs Bama - Cam. 216 yds passing, 3 TD's, 40 yds rushing, 1 TD at BDS. Bama loss.
2011 finalist vs Bama - Mathieu. Can't find stats for regular season game, maybe he missed it. Turned into toast 3 times during BCS game at nuetral site. Bama win.
2012 finalist vs Bama - Manziel. 250 yds passing, 2 TD's, 92 yds rushing, at BDS. Bama loss.
2012 finalist vs Bama - Te'O. 6 made to look like a fools... Neutral site. Bama win.
2013 finalist vs Bama - Manziel. 465 yds passing, 5 TD's, 98 yds rushing, 1 TD on road. Best offensive performance by a QB I've ever watched...
uke: Bama win.
2013 finalist vs Bama - Tre Mason. 164 yds rushing, 1 TD on road. Bama loss.
Not a lot of trends that really stick out, we have dominated a few and a few have dominated us. We have won more games 6-4, than the teams of the candidates. We have faced QB candidates 6 times going 3-3, but 0-2 at home. We are 1-2 facing all candidates at BDS, losing our last 2. State coming in with Dak gives us another opportunity to face a possible Heisman candidate at home, it's time we buck this losing streak and take care of his Dogs. I don't want to see anymore clips in the Heisman award show that include Bama on defense...
