I suck at predicting the score, but I think it's close. Defensively LSU should match up well against Bama. They've had two weeks since we destroyed their rushing defense; they will be out for blood. They will want to prove they don't absolutely suck against the run. Peterson will man-up on Julio all night. He'll still have some chances but I wouldn't think he will put up the numbers he did a week ago.

I think Bama's offense struggles in spells with it being on the road. It seems like I remember seeing a post or two here referencing Bama's offense struggling on the road. They can struggle all day long if they would like, LSU will not score enough to win even if your offense is flat all night.

Bama wins a slugfest, close.

This may in fact be the case. But one has to ask, if each neutralizes the other, which team has the advantage in the remaining 10-on-10 match up? Should Julio run Peterson deep every play, then the role that Peterson plays on special teams is impacted as they both tire. If Julio stays shallow and wide, satisfied to execute one-on-one blocking, then there is a much less crowded "down field" within which our Receivers can work to get open.

Line up JJ alone on one side. If PP lines up on JJ on the inside, JJ goes deep. If PP lines up on the outside, JJ run blocks him at the line. Either way, JJ keeps PP outside the hashes on one side of the field.

That said, I too do not predict either team scoring over 35, and a two score win by either team will surprise me. These are teams that don't care about style.

I think Peterson's value to their defense begins and ends at his coverage ability. He didn't really impress me that much when we played them. He barely caught Newton and then just got dragged the final eight yards of his "Heisman Moment". He also got smoked by McCalebb on the run that sealed it. I know, he'll probably be an All-American and was a Heisman candidate. I've only watched him play one game and I wasn't impressed. The advantage only goes to LSU in his coverage of Julio IF and only if Bama cannot effectively run the ball. If Bama can establish their running game, Peterson will be a non-factor no matter where he is on the field.

You must really under-estimate your defense or horribly over-estimate LSU's offense. I don't see a way in hell they score 31 points unless Peterson runs four punts back and Bama turns it over deep in their own territory and Les Miles remembers how to send his kicker on the field.
